I know this story was completed long ago, but I'm just reading it now. I just wanted to share what happened to my sister in law. This was back in the early 1970's but it still moves me. My sister in law was 20 yrs old and her husband was 22. They had a 5 month old son born with Down's Syndrome. He had heart problems and a condition called biliary atresia where the esophagus doesn't connect with the stomanch. This baby was literally starving so he had surgery to connect his esophagus to his stomach, but he died on the table. It broke my heart to see his father carry the little 2 foot white casket to the grave. A couple years later, they had another baby boy but he died of SIDS at 6 months. Of course they were devastated as well as everyone else but they really wanted a child and they tried again. When she was 5 months pregnant, the baby died in utero but the doctors wanted her to begin labor spontaneously. She carried that dead baby for another three weeks before the doctors gave up and induced her labor. By then my sister in law was nearly insane with the thought of carrying that dead baby inside her. It took years and intensive therapy for her and her husband to recover from all this trauma and nightmares. They have a daughter and a son now and are happier as a family. This chapter brought all those memories back and I sobbed while reading it. DJ

I love this story; its so good.  and thank you for sharing where you are from.   I enjoy know that the TS has touched many people around the world.  Also I can relate to this story line because my granddaughter is such a miracle baby.  My son and my now dgt in law met on the internet, after a few months talking on phone and computer, she decided to come to WVA to live with my son.  She was living in Tenn. at the time  and she had been married for ten years with no children or chance of having a baby.  She was living with us, my son and myself. {oh my son was so sick as a teenager with sperm tract infection; the doctor gave him no hope of having any children}  Well after two months of being so sick, she went to doctor and she asked what was wrong, he said nothing and you will feel better once the baby comes!!  We were all shocked but today Kaeleigh is 12 yrs old, and a true miracle from God.

Edward: "Here why don't you take a nap while I make dinner. Afterwards, I will run you a bath. "  Sigh. Can some magical god strike and make this man for me? He is perfect in every. single. way.

SWOON, at the meadow. I love your Edward. Make me one, and mail him to me. LOL!

Glad you got rid of James quickly. I was thinking he would take her hostage and mayhem would ensue.

Giving birth is such a miracle. This almost makes me want to do it again :-). Nah....my baby is 18, I think four was enough.

I completely cupport and agree with your views. There are many reasons why a woman is not able or does not want to breast feed and they should in no way be criticized for that.  I don't have any children but I was a bottle baby due to the fact that I was born early and was in the NICU for a while on a breathing tube. My parents weren't able to hold me, let alone feed me. Should my mother have been ridiculed for not breastfeeding me?  A resounding no do that. Why should anyone else's situation be any different? Bottle babies are no less healthy and their mothers are no less of a woman or a mom for not breastfeeding.

He's not going to go all emo psychotic Edward and demand to know who she's been cheating with is he? Because I can't deal with him if he's going to react that way.

I've been thinking for a while now that she would end up pregnant. They NEVER use a condom, and yeah, he's going at diminished capacity, but 10% is still 10%. People can get pregnant even using a condom every time and they're only 89% effective.  That's only one more percent possible than Edward's got. AND he hasn't been checked (according to him) in 4 years.

I loved this story. Knew a fella in high school that had cancer, and his chances of having children where slim to none.

This is a beautiful story. This is my second reading of it.  Thanks so much for sharing it.  The 13 year old mother scares me a lot, I have an almost 13 year old son, and can't imagine how horrible it would be to deal with something like this.

Dear Cecilia,

I hope you and your family are well. I just wanted to say hello and let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I was just reading again some of my favorite parts of Babies on Their Mind.

Take care and I hope you will have a chance to be in touch in the future.

Dear Aussiemum1204,

I just wanted to say that you did an excellent job with this chapter. I am a nurse in Canada and a friend of mine recently experienced this tragic loss, although it doesn't happen often it always devesates the family surrounding the loss and the staff that help them cope. I couldn't imagine the strength it would take to be in that room with that mother while pregnant. This chapter made me cry for the loss my friend recently had to endure, but thank you for writing the emotions so well.

When I was pregnant I craved celery and chocolate ice cream, and chicken crimpies (you know the orange shapes?) with chocolate mousse. Mmmm I still like salty and chocolaty lol

I thought you did a really good job writing about such a sensitive topic, I'm surprised I didn't cry, but that might be the fact it's almost morning and I've been up all night reading...

I'm determined to finish before I sleep, and the 2 yr old can have the run of the house tomorrow :)

<3 a fellow Aussie mum xo
