Please update soon.  I check every hour for a new part.  And although I'm kind of dreading the next part - a can't wait either.

This is really brilliant writing.

Thank you for sharing your talent

Author's Response:

Hey honey

First of all, you have the dubious honor of being review number 666 - take from that what you will.

I have two more chapters written and ready to go, but I currently don't have a Twilighted beta to validate them, and won't have until after comicCon.  If you're desperate, you can check them out over at FF.net:

Thanks for your support!

Bella peeling away her layers = intense and perfect for what they were feeling at that moment.

Things I loved this chapter:

“Bella,” I thought to myself, “if you can hear me, cough three times.” She coughed twice. Nope, definitely not psychic. She narrowed her eyes at me and smiled. Fuck, did she just fake me out? A shudder ran through me.

I crossed my legs to stop my girl parts from jumping out of my body and throwing a ticker-tape parade in his honor.

Celine freaking Bella out, missing glare, calm Bella, dominating Jasper. This list goes on.

Honestly, this chapter had to happen. They can't have horrible pasts that never get addressed. I think you did a great job with B's history. I don't pity her because she walked away once she was strong enough. Doesn't mean I don't want those bastards (all of them) bloated bodies floating face down somewhere. Now this ending... I am all nervous anticipation. I trust you to bring us through whatever happens in the next chapter, though. You managed to lace this chapter with happy, funny, sexy, ridicoulous fun so I know you can do it.

Author's Response:

Hey baby,

As usual, I LOVED your review.  Thank you so much for your kind words.

The next chapter is done but I'm having some issues posting it here at the moment which are being rectified, but if you're desperate, you can pop over and catch it on ff.net.

I love cliffhangers.  Well, I hate them actually, but I love them too.  That wasn't SUCH a cliffie, but it was quite good.  Anyway! I would have reviewed this ages ago but I decided to wait till I'd read everything before I did.  So!  This story has made me laugh so many times I think my roomie must think I'm insane.  So funny.  This is my very favorite story, madman and all.  Thank you so much for writing it!

i won't comment on bella's past, but i have to say just this:the motivation, and the situation-it's described perfectly and i've never really thought about it like that before.

and on the other hand, i never really thought about the guilt-trips of recovered addicts before, too.

the chapter is vow-intense and dark, and then you go and jump in alice ocean just when i beg for confession and the end...you're just...just...meddling with my brain, for god sake...and i call you on it!

:)

updateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Alright, baby...big hugs to you...I know this was a bitch to write. I did love the Jalice interaction...gave us some good, sexy fun to balance out the angst.  Now I know you've set us up for the big fucking mess that's coming next, but if I could humbly make a sugggestion? You did an AMAZING job in this chapter of truly cementing Bella's and Edward's relationship.  Don't forget that in the next chapter. They promised they'd see it through no matter what...so be true to the foundation you've laid here and all will be well.

On a totally different note, thanks for letting the Madman out to play.  I snuck into Jasper's office and was ready, naked and waiting and as soon as he showed up...talk about crotchsplosion! I had to max out my Visa at the Home Depot to replace the door and lamps in Jasper's office but it was worth it! Although now I'm really pissed at him because he was such a major dickwad to Edward. You would THINK he'd be a little more mellow after helping me destroy Dr. McPhone-Sex-Me's office but NOOOO...just had to go out and act like a giant penis.  I'm gonna bitchslap him off a cliff, I swear. Buttmunch.

Good luck with the writing, babe...I know it'll be great!

Author's Response:

Thanks babe for the love...currently writing the new chappie and to be honest, it's killing me.  Something to keep in mind when you read the next one is that they DID promise to forgive EACHOTHER - no such promise was made about forgiving themselves.  There WILL be heartfail - for a time - but this needs to happen to progress other plot points.  (Jesus, could I BE more vague?)

I'm glad that you're enjoying the Madman - he's been a little bitch to live with, let me tell you.  He bragged about your little episode in Jasper's office by the way - very fucking proud of himself he was.  *Hint - if you want to destroy his ego, just tell him Edward has a MUCH better ass than he does....he can't fucking stand that.*

Talk soon!

ok...first...loved the chapter.  i loved allice...and how jasper pretty much owned her this chapter.  and i'm defintiely looking forward to the drama next chapter.

with that said.  this chapter was extremely difficult to read, i have no clue what was going on with the font, but at first it was to big for my screen and hard to follow, and the only way i could follow it easily was to shrink my magnifcation and then it was tiny.  its most likely not your fault but i thought i would let you know.

can't wait for more

Author's Response:

Hey honey

Thanks so much for reviewing, it really means a lot to me.

Um...I thought I had fixed the formatting issue.  I'll go and check it again now.  Did you read it today, or when it first went up?  Either way, so sorry for the inconvenience.  One of Alice's enormously long rants with no punctuation cause the margins to explode.  Props to you for carrying on regardless.  If anything like that happens again (and I'm going to try to make sure that it doesn't), you can either copy the text into a word doc, or view it over at fanfiction.net.

Cheers!

Hey lady - am late to the party again, which is getting to be a habit with me these days. Pesky summer holidays with kiddlies needing attention and getting in the way of fanfic reading! Anyhoo - on with the review. I'm going to pinch some of my thoughts from the email to put here, because they pretty much some up my immediate reaction on reading the wonder that was this chapter. So you might recognise some of this.

What a chapter eh? It's definitely, definitely a dark read. Like "woah, holy crap!" dark. But also fecking fantastic. Bella's story is utterly heartbreaking, there are no words really...

I think the very hardest thing of all to read was the fact that she was basically, to a degree, complicit in her own abuse at the hands of the dark stranger. To hear the way she almost tried to justify to herself the feckawful turn her life had taken. To try and rationalise the need to allow her body to be used as currency? Gah.

She was a totally different person then - possibly post-traumatic after the events which led her to the streets - just blank and spiritless and inert. Such a change from the feisty, takes-no-prisoners piss girl we know and love. She sounds almost detached in her recollections of the horrifying details of her life with "Him"- like she's had to put some distance between herself and the emotions relating to her past experiences. Which is totally reasonable and understandable I think, because the person she was then is so unrecognisable that it must almost feel like it happened to someone else...

"He" is an utter bastard. No grey area, no extenuating circumstances. He's the lowest of the low, preying on vulnerable girls in such a heartless manner. I suspect he knows exactly what happened to poor Jessica Stanley. I hope he gets his comeuppance AND some...

Edward's pov was powerful too, and you know my feelings on the Madman *shiver*. But as Edward himself said, there was an element of choice I guess in the bad places he ended up in his life. So whilst his story is undoubtedly a sad and shameful one, it lacks the pathos of the utter tragedy of Bella's. There's just not really any comparison with the stark facts of how Bella lost her innocence, first at the hands of Phil and her Mum (who basically stole her childhood and her carefully planned future) and latterly "He" and his cronies (who stole Bella's sexual innocence, her trust and pretty much her self esteem)...

In amongst all the trauma of past revelations though - there was some real sweet love here between Bella and Edward. It's like they both know they're in the calm before the storm, the peaceful moment before they both have to come clean and lay all the messy, dirty truth out to each other. They both seem so sure that they would be able to forgive each other anything, I only hope they can live up to that.

The other part of this fuckawesome chapter was the supreme Jalice hawtness. You've created another stonker of a coupling here Leis - pure sexual combustion! There were too many funny lines to quote, but I particularly liked this exchange:

“Whatever...my point is, I am NOT the type of girl you can just push around and give orders to. I am Alice Cullen for fuck's sake. I make grown men quake in their boots. I can make small children run screaming with a single glance, and if you think for one SECOND that you are going to be able to control me....”

“Alice, stop talking.”

“Alrighty, then.”

The Jalice scenes weren't just about the smut though, were they? You snuck some character progression in there too you sneaky monkey. Jasper *gets* Alice and all her control freakery - I think he's going to be good for her...

Can I just say also that I loved the fact that Bella immediately picked up on the Alice and Jasper thing? I love the friendship connection the two girls have, and I don't get the impression that either of them has been exactly been swamped with good girly friends in their lives up till now.

The ending of this chapter was beautifully sinister. There was such a sense of foreboding just woven right through this chapter really. Trouble's a brewing, that's for sure...

Right - I need to bring this baby home, because it's getting ridiculous now. So let me finish by saying that you were totally right not to pull any punches here. These are some serious subject matters you're dealing with  (homelessness, domestic violence, drug addiction, prostitution) and you've handled them realistically and sensitively. It's the gritty, nasty truth in all its horrifying detail that makes this chapter so very powerful. We've *got* to see how low Bella and Edward sank so we can appreciate how far they've come together. Whilst also not forgetting that there's no way they could have made those journeys without accumulating a set of baggage that would make the Beckhams proud.

And yet it wasn't unmitigating angst - you still managed to set up some moments for appropriate light relief. THAT's what sets your writing apart Leis - some people can do the angst, some can do the funny. But a writer that can handle both with equal skill? That's a rare bird right there... xx

Author's Response:

Baby, I still say that it's a damn crime that someone with your intelligence, insight and general fuck-awesomeness is not a writer - you are depriving us of the full scope of your brilliance!

Nevertheless, as a reviewer (and advisor and confidant) you are truly exceptional, and I'm so grateful that you stumbled across my little fic all those months ago.  You have really been there from the beginning and without support like yours, I wouldn't have had the confidence to continue.

Thank you so much, for everything.

And yes, school holiday?  VERY difficult to get anything done.  I'm bribing the kids with a trip to Seaworld on the weekend - they're putty in my hands!   Mwhahahahaha!!

OH MY FUCKING GOD! Toastper! I freaking love it! I can't get enough of Alice! "Alice, stop talking"

"Alrighty then"

Freaking awesome! The first part was heavy but needed to be put in, I liked it and then the whole Jasper/Alice thing was awesome! Hmm, how many times can I put awesome and freaking in here?! Haha.

Now I'm kinda worried about what's gonna happen next...Better not interfere with Jasper and Alice...

Reviewer: starbubbles (Signed) · Date: July 09, 2009 12:58 AM · On: Unspoken Truths

Okay, so I'm not normally very turned on by Jasper, but OMG that was hot.

With that out of the way, I think you did an excellent job facing the difficult situation of Bella's past.  I thought it was handled well and with reality.  So great job and I look forward to the next installment.

Oh fucking Hale.  I'm loving all the delicious AxJ gooey goodness....but this cliff hanger thing...yeah...it sucks balls...not in a good way either.

I love your writing and this story line is boss.  Til next time I'll be waiting impaitiently for the next installment of Screamers.

Author's Response:

Baby, you get major props for the marathon effort you have put in, both reading and reviewing.  I have fucking loved getting your take on every chapter - it gave me major happy face.

Now, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to PIMP THE HELL OUT OF THIS FUCKING STORY TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.  I need more reviews...MORE DAMMIT...it's like a drug to me, and I'm fucking strung out!!!

Right, off to finish the next chappie - see you then babe.

I'm so happy for Alice. <Doing a little happy dance>

Reviewer: lavishone (Signed) · Date: July 08, 2009 11:36 PM · On: The Alley

So, I needed an entire day to digest everything that happened in this chapter.  Obviously major shit went down for both these kids.

Bella's story is just awful- or it would have been if Edward hadn't come across her in the alley.  I think for Bella that that is the scariest part of all- that it all seems like such a random chance that she has lived through that awful period and now has such love.  She's having a hard time trusting that love, but somehow I just know that you will bring them through whatever difficulties they face.

And Edward.  God but if his story isn't just as bloody awful.  Addiction to anything is a complete mindf*ck.  The madman can rattle his cage, but Edward seems to have the upper hand at this stage of the game.  While the hyper-sexed and incredibly self-indulgent madman is so eager to have fun that he will check all sense of decency out the window. Edward seems to know right from wrong and though his grasp might be tenuous, he is grasping that knowledge with everything he's got.

The biggest issue for both of these individuals seems to be the unability to forgive themselves for their previous actions.  Both of them are utterly convinced that their transgressions are utterly unforgivable.  Even though they are completely ready to forgive the other one's previous behavior.  More than that, they feel their own behavior so abhorrent, that the other's is virtually nothing; that indeed the other person's actions and circumstances are to be pitied.

Making sweet, sweet love can be restorative, but the "come to Jesus" talk needs to happen toot sweet.  The time for shilly-shallying is now over if they are to survive.  Mortification or not.

On to lighter things....Oh, Alice and Jasper.  Who knew phone sex was that hot?  I mean, besides Alice and Jasper...

The two of them are "explosive" together.  Love that Edward actually got nervous when Alice didn't swear.  Spectacular!

Jasper is one smooth son of a bitch- cannot believe he got Alice to lose control like that while speaking to him over the phone.  The description of their actual face-to-face, skin-to-skin consumation of their relationship is going to be a read and a half.  Personally, I am going to ship my family somewhere so I can read in private... ahem...

Once again, you've given us a chapter chock full of damn near everything.  And I love it!  Ready for more.  Tell Bella that her story was tough to hear about, but that she has loads of people rooting for her safety and happiness.  She is brave and strong and deserves the best that life has to offer.  Also, her psychic abilities are way fab.  And probably useful.  Especially with an upcoming press tour with Edward (and no PDA)!

Author's Response:

Sweetie, thank you, thank you, thank you.  Your reviews are above and beyond - every time.  It's like being assessed by your college professor and hearing that they really like your work, and it fucking rocks my world.

Once again your insights are spot on.

"The biggest issue for both of these individuals seems to be the unability to forgive themselves for their previous actions.  Both of them are utterly convinced that their transgressions are utterly unforgivable.  Even though they are completely ready to forgive the other one's previous behavior.  More than that, they feel their own behavior so abhorrent, that the other's is virtually nothing; that indeed the other person's actions and circumstances are to be pitied." - this freaked me out because the tentative title of the next chapter is "Unforgiveable" - draw from that what you will.

I love you beyond all belief - thank you.

I love how you had Bella covertly taking care of Charlie.  It was so sweet!  And the Jalice phone sexin?  Definitely a good time.

I think I have one more chapter before I'm caught up to current.  I've spoiled myself by having so many back-to-back chapters to read.  It's going to be slightly dissapointing to have to wait for the chapters like everyone else how found this little platinum mine when you started it.

I don't know if I've reviewed any story as many times as I've reviewed this one.  This story is definitely in my top 10 and, probably will be in my top 5 by the time I catch up to current...and I've been around for a while. :)

The witty banter, the nuggets of literary goodness, and the snarky nouget center all rolled up into one fuckawesome tasty morsel.  I love this shit.

see you after the next chatper :)
