Hmmm - is it wrong that I found nicotene-withdrawing, lust-crazed Edward more than a little bit hawt? He can stalk me round the kitchen island any day...

As ever, this chapter was laugh out loud funny in parts. As much as I'm trying to empathise with Edward's pain, I aint never been a smoker so there was less of the sympathy and more of the hilarity at his reaction to being without his precious smokes. I once had a chain smoking roomie who behaved very similarly (minus the lusty bit, thankfully) every time she gave up the cigs. She would alternate from desperately trying to wheedle from me the hiding place where she'd asked me to stash her emergency cigs, to snarling like a pit viper at anyone who came within 10 yards of her. After a day or two I was generally tempted to light one up and stuff it in her beak just to give us all a bit of peace...

Joking above aside, I get that it's more than just giving up the cigs this time for Edward. It's giving up his last remaining crutch and finding out if he really can stand on his own two feet. I liked the futher glimpse into Edward and Alice's relationship this chapter. She really is a stellar support for him, and they have such a close sibling bond. I loved that Alice's awesome day of fun had a sneaky hidden agenda. She certainly knows her brother inside and out, and sadly I bet Alice has seen Edward in some truly sorry states over the years. She seems to have been with him every step of the way as he's dealt with his addictive behaviours one by one, yet its heartwarming that she still has such faith in him. I can also see why Alice is so delighted to have Bella around though, someone else who cares deeply for Edward and can help her share the load.

Bella is a kick-ass handler/assistant. Seriously. Her care package was all kinds of perfect - practical and anticpatory of Edward's *every* need! And on the topic - eight times?! EIGHT times?! Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, that man is somethin'..

And finally, one of my favourite things about this chapter was this part "The door closed behind her. Suddenly the need to claw my skin off and kill small furry creatures was back. Fuck I need a cigarette!". Cause it made me realise that, for Edward, being with Bella herself is better than any nicotene withdrawal product on the market. He seems to draw strength just from having her near, and it makes all the other crap (the screamers, his addictions) seem less insurmountable.

Looking forward to the next update o'course, but you take as long as you need Darl'. Real life and all that. Would love to offer you patronage so you could ditch the day job, but sadly the funds wont quite stretch that far I'm afraid...

Ahhhhhh...there it is.  *sigh*  Been kind of desperate for my Hawk fix.  Feel better now.

I had fun writing this one.  I don't really understand the whole cigarette addiction either.  I mean I smoked briefly in college but that was more "Hey I'm out in the big world by myself, why the fuck not?"  Plus I was an acting major so it was kind of the norm, but I always found it  a bit disgusting.  My Dad smoked all through my childhood and I think that glamorised it for me.  But one day he just decided to quit, cold turkey.  He never touched a ciggie again and is now rabidly against them. 

Sadly I'm a pathetically addiction free person.  I don't smoke, I very rarely drink (if you saw me after two glasses of wine you'd know why), I have done some drugs over the years (hey, I'm an actor - it's kind of compulsory) but nothing really snapped my cracker.  The only addictions I really have are sugar (sweet saccarine!), your kick-ass reviews and Twilight.  So in writing Edward's withdrawal I simply imagined myself with massive PMT and my husband holding a packet of choc-mint thins and not sharing - voila! 

I have worked with a few druggies over the years - once again, the norm in the acting world - and one guy in particular told me about his battles with drugs and alcohol.  He eventually got clean, but there was no way on God's clean lovely earth that we was giving up those ciggies.  They were his lifeline.  Sad.

Well you'll be pleased to know that the next chapter is nearly finished.  Should have it up tomorrow.  And let me warn you, there WILL be unacceptable touching.  No boom, boom just yet cause, you know I like to tease, but definite makin'.

Um...ok...so you have completely freaked me out.  First of all, the spelling of our names - a curse as you well know cause we're always getting called Lisa, Leisha, Liza or any other variation that is completely wrong.

I love the way you start off chapters that could be about anything.  It started with the screamers...making me think some kind of mafia boss was after him or something.  Now again you did it with the cigs.  My mind is going crazy trying to figure what is going on and then when it's revealed it's pretty funny (not that cigs are funny, my dad died from lung cancer) and much tamer than anything I was thinking.   I love these two together and I can't wait for more.

favorite line:  “So how many times did you pop?” Bella! What part of the statement “change the subject” did you not understand?"   That made me laugh out loud...too funny.
