I had the problem in college (I take on-line classes).
One person in my class copied my post word for word, changing only what she needed to in order to make it sound like her. I told my teacher and the teach scolded the wrong person. Needless to say, it doesn't sound like any actions were taken since the person was still in class.
Why would someone's story get pulled if someone else copies it?

The authors themselves are pulling their stories so no one else will copy them. It's really quite sad. I think I'd be pretty broken up if someone did it to me.

Just found this story and I absolutely love it. It's dark and angsty, mixed with love and tenderness, just the way I like it. Can't wait to see what happens next and I really hope James will get what he deserves in the end.

Author's Response: I should clarify. No one has stolen my work *yet*, but it's been happening to a lot of the more popular FFs. People are taking them, putting them on their own blogs and changing a word here or there. We, as FF authors, want people to understand that this problem is out there, and it's wrong.
I would be super sad if someone took my stories. :(

The recent "stealing" of fanfics has really stirred up a lot of anger/frustration/sadness...some wonderful stories have been pulled now because of it (ones I was in the middle of reading!!). It annoys me that we spend so much time and effort on these pieces only to find that someone has taken credit for our work. Thankfully I haven't been a victim yet (that I know of), and I hope I never am.

Great chapter...I'm incredibly sad for everyone...I think you've done a fantastic job at demonstrating how something like this ugly crime...atrocity really, can reach out and spread to everyone in that person's life like cancer.
It goes without saying that James is creepy as hell...it's always disturbing to see where a sociopath's moral compass lies...gives me the frickin' shivers...

Poor Bella and Edward. :( I just want to hug them both and tell them it will all work out. I am so glad that Edward stopped Bella from going too far when she was not ready. I just hate to think that she associates her insistence to be with Edward as similar to what James did to her. Edward and James are VERY different people!! Edward and Bella are together out of love, not power as James was with her. PAGING VICTORIA!

James is seriously sick, I will agree wholeheartedly with you on that. I'd like to say that it's all the steroids that made him snap, but I think the 'roid rage was a catalyst to unleashing something a lot deeper and darker from within him. He's never really told me much of his backstory, so I'm not privy to knowing myself what his deal is.

You have captured the behaviors of a true phsycho and I'm not sure I should be amazed or scared for you. James totally scares me, and I can't figure out how Bella has been acting so calmly through her time with the family.

Author's Response: Thanks, Kris. Writing from the POV of a psycho is hard, very hard, and very disturbing. It's incredibly frightening to reach deep down into the darkest corners of the mind/body/soul to find the horror. I don't understand how someone can live like that, to stalk, terrorize, and hurt someone without so much as an iota of guilt.
*shudders*
I'm glad I can help others. I wrote this as a way to help myself deal with some things and the fact that it's helping others is a wonderful thick layer of sweet, gooey, icing on the cake. :)

Author's Response: I feel bad for her...between losing her virginity in such a violent manner and the way the media has conditioned a lot of us to believe that sex=love, she really doesn't know how to deal with her feelings for Edward. I can totally understand, though, where she's coming from with wanting to "give herself" to Edward before James has a chance to get her again.

Creepy! Why does James become obsessed with Bella in the first place? Just a suggestion, but I think maybe there should be a little more James POV in the next chapter to explain the how and why. This is a really good chapter.

James is power-hungry for some reason, and juiced up on steroids (which explains the aggression). I think he saw Bella as an easy target; someone he could dominate. She had just lost her parents, she was insecure as it was...she was ripe for the picking.
I don't know his exact motives, he never told me. I'm just speculating.

Surprised, yes. Upset, no. I understand the need to move this along. Being a little older than the characters in this story, I think they're way too serious for this age and moving too fast with the love thing. But being not too much older, I remember feeling that passionately and sure of my feelings, even though now in retrospect I wish I'd tempered my feelings with a little reason. I'll just sell myself on the idea that Bella and Edward are very mature for their ages and there's an element of soulmates involved... I can buy that. :)

I think because they've been thrown into such an intense situation they are prone to feel more passionately about their relationship; not to mention Bella needs something/someone to hold her afloat through this. Edward is a nice balance for her.
