That paragraph, there? It's dangerous! It caused me to burst out laughing and spray tea all over my keyboard! I'm lucky I'm not having to buy a new laptop! My DH just looked at me and shook his head. He just doesn't get it... *sigh*

And two quick notes from the grammar nazi:
H-E-R-S is always hers, NEVER her's. Just. Never.
"...who's hand he ached to grasp..." should be whose -- possessive.
Who's = who is.

Oh, man! That is the very first time smoking a cigarette sounded hot to me! Usually I just gag at the thought of smoking. But if Edward held one out to me like that... well, I guess I'd seriously have to reconsider! LOL!
Seriously, though. Please tell me that one the things Bella does is get Edward to stop smoking.
Oh, and one personal pet peeve: Edward's interest was "piqued", NOT "peaked".

Okay, thanks for a little redemption on Edward. Phew. He's an asshole, but he's an asshole with a problem, or because of a problem. After the previous chapter, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to stick this story out; I found all the characters incredibly distasteful with the exception of Bella. Even Carlisle and Esme felt kind of... tarnished, jaded.
But now you've hooked me. Way to play the game! Good writing.

This Edward really pushes my buttons, 'cause I've dealt with a number of teens with chemical dependency issues, and the above description fits a number of them to a "t" -- more so while they're using.
You've really created a monster in truth, as opposed to a monster in fantasy. This guy is the Anti-Edward. Good job. Ugh, but good job.

Great story!! I think you rushed the ending. I would have liked for you to show how she started to enjoy sex. You just implied it. It felt like the story had more to it but just ended.
Author's Response: Nope. Didn't rush the ending. You don't need complete lemons to show ones enjoyment of sex. Wanting it after a year of being together shows that she enjoys sex. And though it may have felt rushed to you, it wasn't. The story was complete.
