I love this story so much!!!  Edward and Bella are so broken, but still you feel their love.  And this poor baby.  Anyway, I hope that you can update soon and maybe have longer chapters.  I am always wanting more..more I know I am sorry, but this story is just that good!!!  Will be thinking about the epilogue.

Author's Response:

I will definitely try to update consistently.  I have next week off for my birthday so I hope to get even further ahead on this and ... Becomes the Swan.  If I do, then maybe I'll post an extra chapter or two.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Excellent, as always

Author's Response:

I am so glad you liked it!

Carlisle did a great job of showing E how they all were to blame for leaving--I like how that is similar to canon, that B felt betrayed by all of them because they listened to E and didn't contact her.

Such a heartwrenching yet believable chapter...and definitely something Edward needed to hash out with Carlisle.

Ok, for the epilogue (and I'm really HOPING E/B will be together in the epilogue!), maybe at least one scene where they are watching Elizabeth acheive a big milestone, like learning to walk.  (If it's a year from now, this milestone fits perfectly)  Oooh, or say her first word (dada?)

--Melanie

Author's Response:

I am glad you liked the chapter.  The things that were said needed to be said...  Now they just need to move forward.

OOH!  I love your epilogue ideas!  That could be TOO cute!

BTW, I have *not* forgotten your story or your email.  I promise.  I got way behind being away from my computer for a few days, so please forgive!  I am almost there!

Thanks so much for your support!

This was another great chapter! I seriously had tears! Very emotional. My heart breaks for Edward. I hope he gets to at least see her and talk to her soon. I also can't wait until she gets to see Elizabeth! That is going to be very sweet!

As far as helping with the Epilogue, that is so awesome! I think that they should be living together and both of them should be back in school. They are going to need good jobs to take care of a family and school is definitely important. I think that they should also be planning to get married, but I like the idea of them waiting until they are done with school and taking it a little slow. I know they already have a kid and all, so how slow is it really gonna be? However, I think they need to really spend time together and be sure that they aren't over their heads and that they are getting married for the right reasons instead of just because they have a baby.

I'd like to see how the family interacts with Elizabeth as well. I think that will be really sweet. Hopefully Charlie can warm up to Edward too! Oh, and the Cullens need to move back to Washington!!!

Author's Response:

I am so glad you enjoyed it.  You'll get the first time Bella sees Edward and the first time she sees Elizabeth in chapter 41.  But be a little careful what you wish for...

I love your ideas about the epilogue.  Very close to my own feelings about the story.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

I think I would go furthur into the future with the epilogue, maybe three or four years. In my opinion, them getting back together right away would not make sense. I do believe they need to end up together for the story to end well for me, but not right off the bat. Maybe they spend a few years dating, and rasing their child, and the epilogue can be about their wedding. I think that Bella would be a little cautious this time around, and take things slower. I'm anxious to see where you take this!

Author's Response:

Very interesting idea!  I think you make a lot of good points!

arrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

Awww!!! it took me a while to read this lol. i was reading another update (four stories this time actuli) and thn i had dinner, saw the email saying about an update about ten minutes after it was sent (why did i have that 3rd slice of pizza?! or the fourth?!?!?!) and just thought 'oh Crap! gotta read that!' and then, just as i was about to, much to my irritation (and annoyance and anger etc.) i was calle down to sort out the dishwasher. grr. so i almost broke a plate, and didnt reload it completely after. woops-not. LOL

anyways, this story is amazing. as per usual. and im not even gonna try to say how much i love it, because we would be here all night. seriously. but lets just say that if every story saved to my faves on my computer (over 100) had an update, i would make them all wait so i could read this one. Seriously. even my other favourites.  Im just CRAVING the hapter where they finally see eachother-4 more isnt it????? lol.

anyways, loving it, amazing, putting everything on hold for it, want more of it (loads and loads more) etc.etc. BTW, how many more chapters are there???? coz i think im gonna feel as sad when it ends as i did when Breaking Dawn ended-i almost felt like crying. i didnt, but i felt like it.

and my friend would probs say that im kissing ur ass, but im not. im stating facts-its just as much fact as the fact that you shouldn't use an axe to kill a fly on your friends head is.

Author's Response:

LOL!  Ten minutes is late???  Even some of my favourite stories - ones I love - get put of hours or even a day or two!  I don't like that it happens, but it does!  I'm *honoured* that you think this highly of my story.  Amazed, shocked and honouored.

Yup.  Chapter 41.  Just try not to lynch me after, okay?

I am so not sure how many more chapters as I write what's in my head until it's done.  No map or arc or anything.  Maybe 50-55?  And an epilogue.  I'll be sad when it's over.  But I have ...Becomes the Swan to console me!

Again, so many thanks for your compliments.  They mean the world.

Wow, ramp up the angst a bit more.  I'm starting to feel like Edward - his pain is really palpable.  Yes I think Bella may eventually forgive him but the way this story has played out, it will take time.  I am trying to take Carlisle's comments to Edward as your comments to the reader - at least I am hoping you are telling us not to give up.

I think Bella let the Cullens visit Elizabeth, but having been on her own for so many months, she has built up an independent streak and will try to do most of it herself without financial support.  I am trying to figure out if she would go home with Charlie, at least for a while, or insist on returning to her apartment.  And I probably missed this in an earlier chapter, but the did Cullens discuss relocating back to Washington state?  I don't see Bella moving off to the east coast just so Edward could have visitation.

For the epilogue, I like what you wrote in Ch. 33, so along those lines, I would like to see them together, and if not yet married, at least engaged, attending college, and raising their daughter together.  I would like to know how the Cullens and Charlie have adapted to grandparenthood, and maybe a POV from Angela; she is more objective since she is not a family member, and I'd like her thoughts on Bella forgiving Edward or making a home with him or getting married.

Liz

Author's Response:

Yeah, this chapter and the next are both fairly angsty, more in the way that they're truthful and honest and at this point, their truth *is* painful.  And yes, listen to Dr Daddy and keep the faith!  Don't give up!

They will work out Bella's living arrangements in an unusual way.  I will tell you *one* thing - NO ONE is going to let her go back to her apartment.  The Cullens and Angela would try to talk her out of it, but Charlie will damn well drag her somewhere else before she goes back there.

Great ideas for the epilogue!  I hope that I can get you at least some of it!

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Reviewer: Charmie (Signed) · Date: September 10, 2009 11:23 AM · On: Chapter 37 - Don't Give Up

Another great chapter!!!!! I know Edward has to feel the guilt of this AND he should.  But I also don't want Bella to forgive him like she did in New Moon.  What Edward did by leaving her - broke her heart.  It's nothing you can just forgive and not have residual feelings from.

I'd like to see some repair between Charlie and Edward...even it's minor here and there...they are both fathers now...so maybe Bella can't seem to forgive Edward and she's incapable of being with Elizabeth WITH Edward and Charlie says something to her...or even to Edward about what happens when you are a parent that you're feelings no longer matter - etc.

Love to see some Jasper resolution - hell i'd like to just see some more foul mouthed Jasper!

Author's Response:

From your comments, I truly think you'll be pleased at the road I decided to take both with Bella and Edward and with Charlie.  You may be the only one!  LOL!

And OF COURSE you'll get more Potty!Mouth!Jasper!.  Gosh, I feel like I could write a whole fic around him!

BTW, I did NOT forget about your one shot!  I am SO behind on reading and reviewing, but I cannot wait to see it!

Reviewer: Meliaurora (Signed) · Date: September 10, 2009 11:18 AM · On: Chapter 37 - Don't Give Up

“But she was incorrect,” I whispered, still rubbing his back.  “Thus she made an error.  She should have told you.”

“Don’t blame this on her,” he whimpered, shaking his head against me.

This is exactly right! And exactly my point! Thank you! She made the exact same mistake (i.e. not telling him about the baby coz she assumed he wouldn't want the burden, etc; not telling Charlie coz she assumed he would be angry and disappointed.) She was trying to protect people too.

Honestly, as sad as it is, (and it is very, very sad) they were all well- intentioned tho misguided. And I am seriously hoping that both Edward and Bella have learned the value of open communication from all this.

I honestly hope she doesn't leave him in the dark and punishing him for too long. They both have made mistakes, but their child NEEDS them to cooperate and communicate with each other.

“I do not,” I answered, chuckling darkly.  “I don’t blame this on any one person.  Blame is pointless, in any regard.  The point being we all made errors.  You should not have made the decision to leave to protect her.  You should not have made decisions for her.  Your mother and I should not have acquiesced and taken us away.  Your siblings should have

Yes, blame is pointless. Thank you Carlisle for adding some perspective. (Tho you pissed me off with you intensity of love = the intensity of the betrayal comment. Maybe not what Edward needed to hear. And honestly, I wish you would be more of an advocate for your son and not so concerned with being fair to everyone. Edward needs someone totally in his corner unconditionally (like how Charlie is totally Team Bella in this story regardless). I suppose Esme is. She loves Bella, but Edward is her son. I can't begin to say how important that is. My parents are gone and, as such, there have been times when I felt that there was nobody just on my side.) Edward knows what he did -- obviously he's beating the crap out of himself (which is unproductive!) but he doesn't need to be constantly reminded of it. It's especially heartbreaking coz everyone is so focused on Bella and her suffering (arguably, rightfully so...perhaps) Poor Edward is the bad guy...which simply is NOT TRUE. That is only seeing one-side of the story and ignoring the choices that Bella made (while beating Edward up for denying her choice in the first place).

Author's Response:

I very much appreciate your comments.  I do.  I think that your last paragraph was the exact point of this chapter.  Edward is *not* the bad guy to Carlisle, or really to any of them (maybe a little to Charlie).  Some are a little ticked with him, but they'd be ticked with Bella too if she were more capable of physically withstanding it.  Kind of like people make the departed seem like saints even if they weren't.

Also you'll see in the next chapter that, although Charlie is Team Bella, he throws the same amount of truth on Bella as Carlisle does here.   Carlisle tries to be supportive of him but also feels like he should tell the truth.  A prepare for the worst but hope for the best.  His comment of the intensity of love = intensity of betrayal actually was a bit of a comfort, when you think of it.  Bella loved all of the Cullens very deeply and has already tentatively accepted Carlisle back.  Which means, really, she can accept Edward (and herself because you'll see she doesn't blame Edward for everything) back but because her love was so intense for him, it just may take longer to work through it than it will to work through her feelings of being wronged by Carlisle.

Now that the immediate crisis is over, I think they are all in the process of sorting out how it happened and how to make it right.  This includes some tough truth for all of them.

Again, many thanks for your insightful review.  Also, I am sorry that your parents are no longer with you - I can only imagine the difficulty of that alone.

Aww, I just want to hug Edward! Carlisle is an amazing person. I'm thankful he is there.

Thanks for the update! :-)

OH and as far as the epilogue goes....OBVIOUSLY I want Edward & Bella together...happy. Thats all I ask :-)

Author's Response:

Carlisle is such a role model as a man and a father.

LOL on the epilogue.  Fair enough!

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Another beautiful chapter.  I ache for these two. I think if Bella sees Edward with Elizabeth her heart will melt and much will be restored.  Much will need to be attended to... but much will also be restored.

I guess in order to know what I'd like to see in the epilogue, I'd also like to know where it ends!

I'd like to see some healing between Jasper, Bella and Edward.  Jasper must be feeling tremendous guilt.  Maybe something along those lines in the epilogue. In whatever creative, genius way you see fit of course. :)

Author's Response: You will see everything you mentioned in the main story. No worries. The epilogue should be brief flashes in their more distant future. Things you want to happen. Thanks for reviewing!

Reviewer: shouldbegraceful (Signed) · Date: September 10, 2009 11:13 AM · On: Chapter 37 - Don't Give Up

epilogues are no fun... that means there is an end in sight and that is sad. I want to know every detail of the Bella/Edward reconciliation,I dont want none of this one conversation in hospital room and then twenty years later. :(((((((((((

Author's Response: Trust me, I write ahead so quite a bit is written that has not been read! I am just collecting ideas for as I am not too far away from starting to write it! Thanks for reviewing!

Yes to all of your suggestions. Not just E/B but the rest of the family. Maybe some Angela and Ben to and what about some Charlie bonding with his granddaughter and maybe another grandchild. You know fishing. LOL

Nice chapter. Carlisle was honest with Edward and even though it is hard now I am sure with time Bella will forgive everyone and herself as well. I hope she gets to see her daughter soon. =-D

Author's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed this and thought Carlisle did a good job with Edward. So many good epilogue suggestions are rolling in. Thanks so much for reviewing!

Oh, that was another hard one to read.  Edward's guilt just kills me.  I only hope he can remember Carlisle's advice for the time when he does come face to face with Bella.  He can't give up.

Author's Response: Carlisle did the best he could - be honest and give hope. Edward has to keep going though! Thanks so much for reviewing!

Reviewer: Cullen Coven (Signed) · Date: September 10, 2009 11:10 AM · On: Chapter 37 - Don't Give Up

Poor Edward!  He is broken too, but I still think there's hope.  Bella needs time to heal, in many ways.  Edward is lucky to have Carlisle and the rest of his family (even Charlie).  He and Bella need to find their way ...

Author's Response: They both have an enormous amount to do in the way of healing, but there is always hope! Thanks for reviewing!

I just wanted to let you know how much I loved this chapter. Many of the others have been heartwrenching, but for some reason this one brought tears to my eyes. Something about seeing a father trying to comfort his son really go to me.

As for the epilogue, I would love to see some point in the future, after they are married, where they add another child to there family. I would love to see them experience a happy pregnancy together to make up for all they missed out on with Elizabeth.

Keep up the good work! This is a fantastic story!

Author's Response: I am so glad this felt right to you. Carlisle is delivering some hard truths, but also giving his son the support and hope he needs. Thanks so much for reviewing!

Well I obviously want to know how Bella and Edward get back together.  I would also like a wedding and more kids.  I think some Cullen family funnies that include Emmett and the kids.  I also would like to see Jasper heal.

Author's Response: We still have quite a few chapters beforwe the epilogue! You will get Edward and Bella's resolution before that! Thanks so much for reviewing!

Nice Chapter but I can't wait for Bella to finally ask for Edward and lets him into her room. Maybe a sweet reunion? As for the future? I'm forever the optimust and always hopeful of a happily ever after. With 4 kids of my own, I'm all for Edward and Bella to enjoy Elizabeth enough to want her to have siblings!! Fun! It's sweet that you will let your readers join in the story. You are a fantastic writer and I look forward to the rest of this story as well as others. : )

*hugs

Bella should have told Charlie, yes - but she had no way of knowing where Edward WAS!

I just feel that Edward is... coddled by his family.

Author's Response: Well, she could have told him when she found out or gotten Charlie's help finding him. And you are right, Edward has been coddled. In this chapter, I feel Carlisle's actions were more support, though. Great points and I appreciate the review!

oh oh oh... i would soooo love to say baby elizabeth's first birthday... the family all together and celebrating it.. have flashbacks of important points in her life.. first bath, rolling over, crawling, saying dada or mama, first steps?... Of course i'd love to have edward and bella and elizabeth all together as a family.. maybe the cullens move back to forks and E/B/E live in a cottage on the property?! more of jasper & alice now that jasper has had some help.. emmett being the funny uncle everyone wants.. i want it all.. lol can't wait to read what you write.. i'm rooting for the b-day party scene

I would love for them to be together, and have a set of twins boys next...Elizabeth would be the personality of Alice- bossy, spunky and lovable all in one package, who has her daddy wrapped around her finger. What do you think?
