I absolutely LOVE the voice you've given Rosalie.  It changes my approach when I read SM's stuff, because you've made her such a complex, multi-faceted personality.  Even the little bit the reader gets in SM's books do not expand on her the way you do.  It makes her seem more real!  Also, the relationship that you've built between Emmett and Rosalie has so much more depth and foundation that it changes perspectives on that as well.  Thank you so much for writing this fic...it grows and embellishes the characters so completely that you feel you almost KNOW them, and in a whole new way other than you thought you did.  And I totally heart Emmett...he's my favorite character.

I just thought I'd point out before finishing this chapter - in the last chapter, the tombstones read Ronald and Anna Hale, while in this one you refer to her missing Richard and Anna Hale. Small detail I know!

firstly congrats on your engagement, secondly another super fine chapter wow so much emotion in this one is there no end to emmett wonderful understanding? he once again shows himself to be exectly what rosalie needs without her fully realising it, he turns her grief and distaste for this vampire life into something she wants to have and a life she can be  happy in, especially since he was  he was in possession of knowledge that rose would give him up in a heartbeat to be human again, emmett has some special lines in this chapter that made me go ahhh even rose had a few the best one being "so rosalie lillian hale ......will you marry me " fantastic stuff lovin this fic

Just when I thought you'd gone forever!! I'm glad you're back and you're continuing the story. I love Rosalie in this chapter. You seem to capture her inner turmoil perfectly...she's still a vain bitch but you see behind it!

Hooray for valdiation! It's up and it's fabulous. Again, I must say that the hard work and dedication you put into this chapter really shines through. Your portrayal of Rose has always been multi layered and fabulous, but in this chapter I felt Emmett really shined. I also have to admit that while I've always had a fondness for Emmett like a big brother - he was amazing in this chapter. You've made him funny, romantic and given him such depth that I just love him. Great job, Mari!

Lovely first chapter. I especially liked that you kept Rosalie true to character with what we would expect from the books (beautiful, a strong personality), but while giving her a slightly softer side as well. It's always interesting for me to explore and read about the side of the characters we don't often see as much.

Thanks Elise! That means a lot to me, seriously. I never know how anyone will take my version of the story. It's a big risk to put it all out there. I will definitely agree with you that secondary characters are very interesting to read about. Rosalie has become my favorite character. I wanted to keep her within character, but still give her a heart. I truly believe there are two sides to every story, and SM's Twilight gave us only a glimpse of one side of Rose that was warped because it was through Bella's perception. There is a reason she is the way she is, and in writing, i try to explain it.

This story actually has three chapters left for me to write before it's completed, but I'm having trouble getting around to it b/c of RL (i'm planning my wedding and moving houses twice), as well as reading other fics. I assure you, however, that i'll get around to reading AND finishing No Longer Alone. I hope that your story will open up a new world for me. I always think of Es/Carl as "the parents," so it will be fun to read their love story and hopefully break that mental mold.

I feel so bad for both of them. Rose loving Em so much but willing to leave him to be human again. Em loving her but knowing that she would leave. It's the unspoken pain in thier relationship.
