Marvellous insight!

Loved the 'discussion' Edward had with Emmett in the store - LOL.  I can't believe Mike didn't see through Emmett's rehtoric.

Author's Response:

Mike was too busy trying not to pee his pants, I think... 8-)

thanks!

The decision of the Volturi - I'm guessing the first one.

Very well written.  I can only hope for the rest of the story exceeding this preface's length.

Ready to go...and catch up

Author's Response:

Ding ding ding!  You are correct!

The preface is just a taste, and yes, the chapters are much longer!  8-)

Wow--a brilliant chapter.  You're doing a fanastic job with this story--so much detail, so much of Edward's self displayed in the things he does and thinks, so true to canon.  And the end -- this is just heartbreaking -- "Can you stay with me, Bella, until the end?"  It leaves me with a pang in my chest.  Thank you!!!

Author's Response:

You are so welcome!  I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, though I'm feeling the pressure for the next chapter 8-)  Gotta make sure I get it right!  I just wish Edward would have the time to really enjoy Bella's return, but it'll be a bit before he can.  *sigh*

thanks so much!

Wow--I think, with every new chapter, you outdo yourself.  This chapter was heartbreakingly beautiful...I felt like I was right there with Edward but couldn't help him.  It was so sad!  I will be re-reading this chapter many times in anticipation of the next.  As I've said before, your portrayal of Edward is so "spot-on" and you just bring him to life so well.  I love his interaction with the Volturi--especially the way he keeps his trademark sarcastic (loveable) arrogance.  I loved it!  There are so many things to love in this chapter!  The Psalm he prayed, and when he asked Bella to stay with him until the end--heartbreaking and lovely!  Oh my goodness...I could go on and on.  Thank you, again, for bringing Edward's New Moon to life for the rest of us!!

Author's Response:

Oh, I love that - that you felt helpless...it's so true!  We know she's alive, but he doesn't...the torture!  I hope I can do as well with the next chapter - I know everyone's expectations are high...the pressure is definitely on!

I think this chapter was finally his rock bottom.  If not, I'm definitely scheduling and appointment with a therapist - I don't think I can take much more heartbreak myself!

thanks so much!

Dear Blondie,

I’m loving all your mood music, specially “Tears in Heaven”, I’ve always loved that song and what a perfect match for the next chapter. Such a beautiful, sad song! Like I said in my last review I’ve got a few I thought I’d share… they’re a bit of a motley collection. Most are songs I thought of reading DSOTM, the rest are all ones I love, and I thought might bring a little inspiration if you ever get writers block ;)

I Can Feel a Hot One - Manchester Orchestra (this one was playing through my head in the end of “Stitches” and all through “Decision“. I love it coz its so sad L )

Slow Show - The National (this came to mind whenever E mentioned how much he wanted to go home)

Blue Would Still Be Blue - Guillemots (another sad one…which I love! Reminds me of “Año Nuevo”)

Come Home - One Republic (same thing… but this one’s really more of a Bella POV song I think)

With Me - Sum 41 (reminds me of E having one of his B fantasies/memories through DSOTM. I thought the lyrics really related to his tie to her and his emotions during their time apart. This one‘s my fav I think, I‘m assuming lots of people may have suggested it???)

Breath - Angels and Airwaves (this one always reminded me of the scene near the end of NM, after the trip home from Italy when they‘re in Bella‘s room and Edward‘s trying to convince her that she’s awake and he loves her *sigh*)

Vaka - Sigur Ros (no proper lyrics (good old Sigur Ross and his weird, Vonlenska, syllable language…) but it’s good mood music! Especially for all of Edward’s pain and angst!)

I have lots more…but I’ll leave it there coz I’m trying to cut down my reviews from now on and I feel this one getting a little long. We’ll see how that goes… no promises though! I still intend on reviewing every chapter of DSOTM at some point so prepare yourself! If you get tired of my obsessive reviewing feel free to not respond, I promise I won’t be offended! I know how annoying I can get!

Much Love! (hopefully not too much this time)

Wow.  That was absolutely fantastic. You did an excellent job of describing Edward's experience with Aro and the others.   The way you brought in Edward's visions of Bella and his decision on how to provoke the Volturi in the daylight was genius.  This was one of the best chapters I've read outside of the actual Twilight Series books!   Keep up the great work!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much - I've always thought that Bella had something to do with his choice to walk into the sunshine rather than do something else (like Superman).  I'm glad it sounded 'right'!

Such high praise - I'm blushing!  8-)

Man, the anniversary of first sight and how every day is a new anniversary of some trivial event with Bella; growing in intensity as each day passes.  Painful.  Awesome.

I love what you wrote for Valentine's Day.  Creeped out by Mr. Banner - but still, I like your take on what may have happened that day.

I'm going to guess that Alice saw Victoria at Mardi Gras.  And that Victoria literally landed in Buenos Aires and then hopped back on a return flight.

Author's Response:

hee hee hee - good guesses!  Yup, Alice saw Victoria at Mardi Gras - it was too hazy for her to see any signs or hear any English.  However, Victoria didn't go to Buenos Aires.  She found a passenger who was going, then left a little venom calling card on the wheels of the woman's carry on (she's a devious devil, that Vicky).

And Mr. Banner liking Bella is actually canon - believe it or not - and yes, creepy!  8-)

Thanks so much for reading (very carefully)!

As you know, I absolutely LOVE your story (as this is the 3rd review of praise I've sent you) but I also wanted to pass on a couple songs that SCREAM New Moon to me.  You always have great mood music that goes along with each chapter so I just wanted to suggest a couple that I love and nearly weep everytime I hear them as I imagine that angst that IS Edward and Bella.

With Me (by Sum 41) - I TOTALLY imagine this song playing in the background as they are flying home from Italy or as Edward is holding Bella while she sleeps for 14 hours after the "incident".

Hear You Me (by Jimmy Eat World) - I can imagine this song playing as Edward grapples with the belief that Bella is gone forever.  I know you already did that scene but I just thought I'd toss it your way to see what you thought.

Once again, I love your work and you are a genius.

The End :)

Author's Response:

Thanks for the music recs - I'm going to have to collect all these together and spend the afternoon in musical heaven!

My problem is that I can hear Edward in almost every song I listen to when he's in my head.  Yes, I'm more than obsessed!  I look forward to listening to your suggestions!

I've posted my current play list on my profile, if you're curious to see the whole thing in one place.

thanks so much for reading!

The "killing" Jacob bit kinda freaked me out.

The touch base w/ Emmett was great.  Especially since Emmett had to miss a favorite tradition in order to call him.  I like that you're showing familial reactions beyond Esme being sad and Alice thinking he's foolish.

Author's Response:

hee hee hee - the killing Jacob part showed just how far gone with thirst Edward was.  Poor guy!

Edward's decision to leave affected all of the Cullens.  He thought he was making their life easier - he couldn't have been more wrong!

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

this writing is beautiful- you have a lovely natural flow that drives the events forward so they do not seem contrived. I love the inclusion of the Psalm- you are not the only one who's mind wanders there in church- I'm ok with that as Vampires are a twist of Christ metaphors anyhow. Your characterization is also quite Edward.

Dude, you did it again. You made me cry. Gaaaaawwwwd. Thanks.

*blinks tears away*

The selfish part of me hopes they divert slightly from the book and by some sheer of a miracle, they somehow include elements of this chapter into the movie. That last bit just killed me, and it would be an injustice if we didn't get such a scene expressing Edward's anguish and his realization through memories of Bella and final planning of his own demise. You writing pulls at the heartstrings. Amazing. Freakin' amazing.

A great update, sad, tragic, but fabulous nonetheless...I loved the description of his interactions with and the thoughts of the Volturi, especially Marcus' illustrated thoughts showing nothing more than connections. I also quite enjoyed his inner turmoil as he tried to find just the right way to bring about his demise, his final hallucination of Bella was simply beautiful, better than the black nothingness that has held him since Rosalie's news...

Very well done...reunion next? I hope so.

This is the first time ever I've cried reading fanfiction.  I mean, real big fat tears rolling down my cheeks during this line:

"Can you stay with me, Bella, until the end?"

Blondie, you are so talented.  I'm aching just reading Edward's pain.  Thank you so much for filling in the blanks from NM.  I keep thinking/hoping Summit and Melissa Rosenberg are secretly reading your story to enlarge Edward's time on the big screen in the next flick.

Keep up the awesome work!  I can barely wait for the big reunion in the next chapter!!

Perfect! That sums up my description of this chapter! I really liked your take on how Marcus' vision works. I can't wait to see what E & B look like to him. I am also, as always, intrigued by the way you have Edwards mind working. So HUMAN! The nothingness of shock only lifting once he remembers the passage from Psalms. Then the final request to his imaginary Bella... I almost cried! Poor Edward.

Really looking forward to the next chapter. Great job!

LCS

Author's Response:

Human - I hadn't thought of it that way!  He is very vulnerable at the end of this chapter - and yeah, in a very human kind of way.  He's hit rock bottom, and truly believes that he's going to die very shortly.  He has no reason to keep his defenses up any longer...

What a great insight!

I'm glad my idea of how Marcus' talent works sounded right.  That was license on my part, but I thought it was more interesting than just 'he sensed relationships.'  How?  I'm glad it sounded 'right.

thanks so much for the review!

Stunning. Beautiful. Exquisitely emotional.

In short, I loved it.

The end, especially, was so beautiful. I love your idea of why Edward finally chose to just walk out into the sunlight as the avenue for his demise. The verse from Psalms was perfect and appropriate, and I wanted to cry when he asked his memory of Bella to stay with him until the end, and her response: "I'm not running anywhere."

My goodness, woman! Even though I already know what's coming, I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation. I can hardly wait to experience the reunion and all the moments that follow through Edward's eyes. I'm certain that it will be incredible.

Author's Response:

I hope I can live up to your expectations - I know there's a lot riding on the next chapter. 8-)

The fact that Bella (well, his memory of her) was what gave him the idea of walking into the sun has been an idea that's been in my mind since I started thinking about NM through Edward's eyes.  No matter what he chose, I would think that his memory of Bella would have had some input.

The next chapter will take some work to get it right - and I really want it to be right, so I ask your patience.  Getting Bella back will be great for Edward...for a few milliseconds anyway...but that's just the beginning!  8-)

thanks so much!

I love this chapter.

I've been rather anxious for it to come up in fact (I check the profile at least every other day to see if it's there yet = totally hooked)

The way you describe the Volturi and what goes on in their minds really has me in awe. It's one of the difficult things about writing Edward Pov. You really need to be almost omniscient in the same way as if you wrote third person because Edward will know the instant they think it. I think you captured them incredibly well. It was one of the things that nagged me in the books that I would have liked to see. Why Marcus was so resigned and what Caius was actually thinking. I had made the same assumption you did with Marcus, but it was still nice to see it put down into wiriting.

I also have to say I ejoyed the ending immensely. It was heartrendering that Edward asked Bella to stay. In my imagination he sounded a little afraid when he asked that. Not mainly because he is about to die (I think even if it's your biggest wish you could not help be nervous what is waiting) but mostly because what if she said no and he lost her again.

Poor poor Edward. I really feel for him. You portay it extremely well and I shall anxiously wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response:

You are so right that Edward's POV is like the omniscient.  It's actually really fun to write, just so long as I remember that he hears so much.  The good thing is that he can ignore some of it, otherwise I don't know how he (or we readers) could stay sane.

We'll see more about the Volturi the next time he encounters them since he'll be paying attention to more than just the brothers this time!  It'll be quite noisy in his head then, I think.

And you're right - I think he'd fear losing that image of Bella more than he'd fear death at this point.  But she won't desert him this time.  She'll stay with him right to the end...and beyonde 8-)

thanks so much for the insightful review!

Wow, I'm speechless! This chapter was marvelous. Absolutely breathtaking.

You write so believably in Meyer's original voice it's insane! Sometimes I forget that this is *fan*fiction and not the real thing. I love how perfectly in canon this is, and how seamlessly you transitioned from Rosalie's phone-call outtake to this chapter-- it's brilliant!

Also, I must admit how much I *love* seeing the Volturi through Edward's eyes.

I realized it was the death of Marcus' mate that put him in his stupor, and he'd remained there ever since. I glanced at the dark figure in the chair, understanding him better than anyone else in the room. He personified the future I was trying desperately to avoid.

This whole segment was particularly poignant. I really love it.

and Oh. My. God.

If I'd gone back, if I'd never left, if I hadn't been so selfish...she would be alive right now. I tried to take solace in the fact that she'd found her eternity. But I could've had her forever...

and right about HERE i completely lost it. I was crying my eyes out, blowing my nose-- the works. Goodness that is so heartbreaking. That last line about "I could have had her forever" just broke my heart. ugh! so lovely.

Thank you so much for writing this-- I couldn't imagine it being done any better by anyone else!

I can't wait for the next chapter! :)

Author's Response:

Thank you so much - what a high compliment!  I'm glad this sounds like SM's Edward - that's the whole point 8-)  And while I don't mean to make you cry, I'm glad you can relate to poor Edward.  He makes me cry all the time.

We'll see a little more about Marcus the next time we see him, along with some of the other vamps that Edward was too empty to pay attention too.

There's still so much to come - I know everyone's excited about Bella's return... but we won't be done for quite a while after that!

thanks for reading!
