I almost squealed out loud when he said his name. Seeing them together is so sweet. Then end is really sad, though. I can't wait to hear more about his life!
Keep up the great work. You're a very talented writer.

What horrible memories to remember, not wanting to go to sleep, knowing he was going to die, yet when he did wake up it was in a cage. I can't wait to continue reading the story!
Author's Response: Yeah, when you think about it, it really truly sucks. I don't like thinking about it too much, it's a shame that there's way more coming ;)

Well, since you gave it away in the A/N of chapter 2, I'm not surprised. I am surprised by him waking up in a cage. Okay, not really, I kindof figured that one as well. But, who did this to him, that is the big question, along with why!
I'm so glad he told Bella his name. He is slowly opening up, telling her of his story a bit, giving her something back. His trust of her has built so strongly, and now he seems willing to face his fears when she asks. It was so difficult for him to leave his room. I guess being locked in a cage for 90 years will do that to a person. I can't remember the term for the opposite of claustrophobic, but I'm sure that is what he is suffering from a little bit. He seems like he will be able to overcome it.
I also love the pacing. It makes sense for things to be slow in the beginning, when they didn't know what was wrong with him, or how to take care of him. Healing always starts slowly, and picks up speed as you get closer to being well. You have truly mastered the sense of that here. I can feel things building, and even though we haven't heard much from Edward, I can feel that great things will be coming from him.
Here's a great outtake idea - tell us what the conversation was that the Cullen's were having that Bella couldn't understand. I would love to hear that!
Another wonderful chapter Michelle. I loved it as always. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story with us.
Author's Response: "Well, since you gave it away in the A/N of chapter 2" (coughsandeveryOTHERa/naswell!cough). Ya knew they changed him, eh? Most people seem surprised by that! :)
I'm so glad to see you still like it babette! Thanks for reviewing, as always :)

Michelle, another lurker here. We are coming out of the walls! Your story has really sucked me in!!!! You are truly evil......with every chapter you answer one or two questions and then raise a half dozen other questions that need to be answered. That is why we all keep coming back! (The sign of a truly talented writer!) Your story is unlike any other on Twilighted. Thanks!
I am not a writer.......just a voracious reader!
Author's Response: lol, the questions have always been there, I am simply shedding some light on them :)
Listen here, bb. I am SO HAPPY that you came out of lurkdome. I hope you continue to review, as it makes me all sorts of excited to see what people think! :)
So thank you for this!

You are really good at threading the needle with this story. The character development is amazing. We now know that the vampire has a name--Edward. His parents died and he thought he was as good as dead, but he woke up in a cage. Great puzzle pieces. My guess is that a vampire has to be in collusion with human doing some experimentation. It seems a lot like Hugh Grant's movie, "Extreme Measures," where Hugh finds Gene Hackman is taking people that won't be missed from the hospital and trying to find the cure for certain illnesses.
I can see that Bella is falling harder for him as each chapter passes. She was so plagued by guilt over her decision to leave after he spoke his first words. Her touching of the vampire become more intimate. The embrace on the balcony while they spoke about showed how close that they have gotten in a short period of time. It is too bad that she talked herself into going to homecoming, but it would nice if Edward is well enough to take her in the end.
I am curious about Alice's vision that she told the family and wonder when she will let Bella in on it. It must be really bad if Carlisle and the family had such strong reactions during Bella's arrival.
I love your story more and more with each passing chapter. The suspense and romantic levels are heightened now with Edward talking. I await the next turn in this odyssey.
Author's Response: We do! There are some very important clues in those three puzzle pieces..
Extreme measures! I haven't seen it in ages, but I will rewatch it to look for the parallels :D

I am new to this story & this is my first review. I have to say that I am astounded by what you have written so far. I look forward to finding out about Alice's visions and what Edward thinks about the rest of the Cullens. Oh, and of course, most of all, more Bella & Edward quality time. ;)
Author's Response: bb, thank you SO much for coming out to review!
I'm so glad to see a nice mixture of new and old reviewers each chapter :D
exb quality time is win, btw. I agree :D

He woke up in a cage?! Who would do that to him?!
**shakes fist**
I'm so glad he finally spoke...that means he's making progress. I just hope nothing wrecks all this progress that he and Bella have made...eep! I love this story.

I love this story. I just found it tonight and now I'm at the end of what's been posted and I truly, truly need more.
It's so beautiful and well crafted. I love the relationship between them and I like how you weave the others in. I'm concerned about Rosalie though.
And if those darn Cullens and Charlie think they can keep Bella away from Edward, I'll sock 'em! Plus, I mean, HELLO, she's the only one he responds to.
I anxiously await more of this wonderful story!
Author's Response: I'm so happy that you found it and gae it a shot!
Don't worry too much about Rose, she doesn't seem to be getting into their way much. There are other things to worry about instead of a self absorbed smug vampire :D
Thanks for reviewing!

Author's Response: I'll for sure need some tissues! I get all upset just thinking about it :(

I love how much Edward is progressing; moving from his room to the balcony and talking somewhat to Bella. I'm guessing that the vision Alice sees is Bella becoming a vamp, and I wonder what Edward thinks about that as he must be able to either hear them in the living room or read their thoughts. Its so sad to imagine Edward in such a horrible place. Are the Denali family going to come into play at any time or James or the others? I look forward to more, thanks for the great update!

I had a question that I was going to ask in my review and clearly got sidetracked.
What does Edward mean when he asks "What is it like?"...
What is it like to surf? What is it like to go outside? What is it like to be human? What is it like to have memories? What is it like to not hear voices?
The last is my actual opinion although the first would be more fun :) I assume we'll be going back to that question.
Author's Response: What is it like to surf, that is the question, naturally.
Fuck, he's been locked up for AGES, the dude wants to surf. I wonder if he knows he sparkles and isn't allowed out in the daylight. Shit's gonna hit the fan when he learns that it'll be difficult to surf during the day..
Actually, that question is sort of open to interpretation, we'll see if he goes into it again.

First he said three words and now he says many! What little of his story that we've heard it kind of reminds me of Alice but backwards, she was locked up as a human and then freed as a vampire, Edward the reverse, and both don't remember much.
What's really bugging me at the moment is Rosalie. I can't work out what her angle is. Carlisle hinted at maternal instincts, which I don't really think fully explains how she is drawn to Edward. But her irritation with Bella makes more sense now that the suspicions about Alice's visions are all but confirmed, however as per usual Rosalie confuses me. And I wish I knew more about the silent Emmett/Rosalie confrontation from a chapter or two ago, I can guess, but I like to be told.
Counting down approximately six days...
Donna
Author's Response: Yes, there are certainly some parallels to the alice story! Very astute observation, no one else has called it out that I've seen so far. I wonder if that'll make it easier for him to level with Alice??
Thanks for reviewing!
