Ok I surrender. I have been stalking this story for some time, and just couldn't bring myself to read it. I just didn't know what to make of it. Well today I started it, Im starting chapter 5 and I Love It! I can't go into details about why just yet, but it's like chicken and waffles...you can't really say why it's good...it just is!

Sorry for being a doubting Thomas, I am a believer now!

Author's Response:

I'm glad you decided to read it! Hopefully you continue to enjoy it :)

In Spanish: ¡Maravillosa historia!

In my humble English:  A wonderful story!

It is dark and sorrowful at first but you know things will improve for them.

It kept me reading until 4 a.m.

I am looking forward to the next chapter! Please don’t keep us waiting.

P.S. Edward dress or undress doesn’t matter to me as long as he is Edward!

I proudly  belong to Edward team.

Author's Response:

We can at least hope things will improve for them! :)

I'm all about team edward too :)

Thanks so much for the review!

Aw! I loved it! Can't wait for another chapter. I love how Alice just plops down on the bed. And I love how slow it's going. I bet a lot of people are all wanting you to just plunge into the relationship, but it doesn't really work that day.

I also like how Bella is more forward than Twilight Bella. Awesome.

Yeah, and I do miss shirtlessward but I am also glad he's got his own clothes... I think the clothing is very psychological... I'm assuming he hasn't worn any for 85 years or so... D:

It will be interesting to see how the relationship progresses, when Edward hasn't had 105 or so years to become so damn stubborn... Who knows, it might still be that way though, haha.

Author's Response:

Thank you! Yes, people certainly are pushing for an increased pace, but meh, I'm trying to find a balance. Eeeh, we'll see how that goes :)

Clothing DEFINITELY has psychological undertones. It's part of rehumanizing him, if you will. Which is what Bella has been essentially trying to do the whole time, so it's huge for him!

Thanks so much for reviewing!

I just found this story today at work and I had to read all that you have posted.  This is honestly the best fanfic story I've read.  The title is great and really captured my attention.  The plot is interesting and different from anything else I've seen.

The only criticism I have is that I think it went on a bit to long with him growling and cringing with Bella all the time.  I felt that he would have accepted her touch without cringing every single time she touches him.  90 yrs of abuse is hellalong but I think after a couple of weeks of her never hurting him he wouldn't fear her so much, the others yes but not Bella.

Mostly tho I really love the story. I think that if you remove allusions to Twilight, change the names, location, etc. you could publish this story.  When you finish it I really think you should send it around and see what response you get.  I can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you like it!

Unfortunately, the flinching isn't something that will likely ever go away. If it does, it'll still be a while. It's the result of years and years and years of being hurt, and it's something that his body instinctually does -- hopefully that makes sense.

While he's starting to understand that she won't hurt him, his past isn't really allowing him to fully trust her. And a couple of weeks won't undo a lifetime of pain, if you know what I mean..

Which -- it's 3 am, so this response probably fails.. but anyway, yeah -- flinching isn't something he'll overcome easily.

Thanks for reviewing! I'm so happy that you're enjoying it depite your qualms with the pace :)

I'm quite surprised he clothed himself.

Didn't you say he was very animalistic and didn't mind his birday suit?

Perhaps Bella is civilizing him in some way.

This story is moving painfully slow. Like sweet torture.

Its so amazing, but I'm much too impatient.

Sigh.

Another well written chapter! I quite love the length.

:)

Author's Response:

Sorry, that was an "up until this point" type-thing. Then he fed, which was a huuge step, allowed him to gain awareness of his surroundings.

THEN bella went and put pants on him -- sort of shows him that this is expected -- she's essentially re-socializing him, slowly. But faster than would ever happen for a human, for the purposes of keeping the story rolling.

So yes, she's civilizing him -- and I'm sorry about the slow pace! The funny thing is, as I just noted, I'm actually pushing his recovery to the max; so eventually we'll lose some of the details, but yeah. Slow pace = ahh sorry.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Squee!!  Loved it! Edward's "goodnight Bella" had me tearing up.  I love the shirtless or naked in bed Edward....but an Edward in a nice pair of jeans and shirt....yummy!  So now we know how Bella found out about the Cullen's....I liked it....I can totally picture her freak out!  So now who are the bastard who had Edward locked up for 90 years and when can I kick their ass?

Author's Response:

I think they're sweats, if that changes your opinion :)

Sweats/tshirtward is a winner IMO :)

Thanks so much for reviewing!

CLothed or shirtless, don't matter to me! I hope he you get him past the constant trembling and shaking soon, though. It seems to be lasting a long time. Great story!

Author's Response:

It is lasting a long time, he's got a rough recovery unfortunately :(

I was on chat with some people and they were talking about this story. I decided to add this story to my list of FF stories that I was reading. I was up to nothing yesterday so decided to see what this was all about.  I started reading and got so hooked that I read the entire thing at one sitting.  What a page turner! You are a GREAT writer!  I love how different yet familiar this is.  Can't wait for the update!!

Reviewer: angalicious (Signed) · Date: April 30, 2009 02:53 AM · On: The Weekend

Gah! I am obsessed! The level of love already is too much! (I mean, it's perfect! But... it's so great, it's "too much"... You know what i mean, right??) I do miss shirtlessward a little, i won't lie. ;) I just want to curl up with him forever and never move. I can't wait to find out about his captors, but i do have to say, i think this was my favorite chapter (Well, i can't choose that, actually, as i love them ALL!) because... it's just so... tender. And beautiful. And she kissed him! I've been waiting for that! I knew it would come when they were ready, so i was patient... but i squeed when she did it. Please start updating 3 times a week. Haha. I can't get enough!

Author's Response:

Yeah, there was something dangerously close to fluff here, brings up the mood a little ;)

Thanks so much for reviewing!

HEY LADY!!

Ok…. Now that I had a chance to breathe and reflect on the chapter.  I really felt Edward’s hesitation and reluctance.  I mean when he stiffened when Bella wanted to go back inside.  I can only imagine the outside… the air… the freedom is comforting to him and something he is revelling.  The idea of going back inside, in a room , with 4 walls is so catastrophically claustrophobic!  His ENTIRE memories are from being in captivity and probably being tortured.  *phew…. That is so bloody heavy and heartbreaking.

I can’t IMAGINE what he has been feeling… that this one warm-blooded fleshy person has shown him the only kindness he can ever remember.  Absolutely everything is alien to him, not just the kind touches,  but all modern things included in that. (unless they had stuff in the labs.)

Okay…. I am going to stop now.  LOVED IT!  LOVED IT!

Mwah!!

b

Author's Response:

OCD! I saw your fic rec'ed out and about this past week!

It is fucking heavy, I think people try to ignore the fluff to see the heartwin. Which was this chapter, I guess.. a lot of people are calling it fluff.. which it is, but those fucking heartfail undertones are there fo sho.

I'm glad you loved it hon!

Because I so totally and completely love you.

Thanks for the review :)

Wow. Okay, so I'm going to have to ask you to update... now. Or at least as soon as you possibly can? This story is A-MA-ZING! You're such a talented writer. This is probably in the top 3 fics I have read. Ever.

Author's Response:

Aww, thanks so much!

I'll try to update quickly, but it won't be now, per se ;)

That was such a good chapter.  He is making so much progress.  I love how the contact with Bella is not only comfort; but also has a level of intimacy, like when he was stroking her face, and the way he snuggled up to her while she was sleeping,  It was so endearing the way he was sorry for flinching at her kiss.  It shows that he does care about upsetting her, and that he on a conscious level knows that he can trust her, but that his reactions are an involuntary instinct.  It's so promising, I love to see them connecting while he is more alert.  So excited for the next update!

Author's Response:

He is, he's come so far since the basement :)

Thanks so much for the review!

I loved the book-sniffing, the spooning, all of it.  Fantastic chapter.  Edward's making such improvement!

Author's Response:

Yes, he's making huge improvement!

Thanks for reviewing :D

Well I've read it and now i am reviewing

I am going to be honest and say i didn't like the middle chapters too much even though it was very endearing.

But then suddenly for the last 3/4 chapters you suddenly took the story in a different direction and I loved it. I loved the changing dynamic between Edward and Bella.

The first  5ish chapters i also though were amazing, i mean we knew it was Edward but it was still really interesting and  caught my attention.

So update soon, and this story is really interesting, and even though i was a bit critical at the beginning of the review I'm sure if i were to read those chapters properly rather than in out as i had been. I would have liked them more.

So i can't wait for the 15th chapter.

Beth

Author's Response:

Thank you for reviewing! The early chapters were slow but necessary, and I'm glad you stuck through it.

It's okay to not like the middle ones, glad these ones are better for you :)
