When my mother was prenant with my sibling and I was 10 yrs old, I hoped for a sister. At one point I was positive the baby was a girl. I was sorely disappointed and refused to visit my mother at the hospital because I blamed her. I know, what do kids know. To help smooth my ruffled feathers, my dad said I could name my brother. I accepted and wote a long list of all the boys' names I either thought were stupid or dorky or had some funny memory to them. I gave it to my dad to take to my mom to pick from. They chose Robert Eugene. I never told them or my brother that it was in revenge for him not being a girl. Now, Robert is a common name in my family. There are 9 of them with variations on a theme of "Robert" from my brother, husband, son, in-laws and grandparents on the in-laws sides and even a dog. Now my favorite man is Rob Pattinson. Whatever made me think that was such a bad name eludes me now because I think it's beautiful. DJ
