Wow.  I wonder that Carlisle never mentioned his precog friend in Pheonix.

What a great chapter.  Poor Bella

Author's Response:

It will be explained a little in chapters to come that Edward does not like being reminded of the human life he cannot remember.  As far as Carlisle knows, the Bella he mentioned lived in 1918.  He has no idea that Bella was from a different time, he just thinks she was a human girl living in 1918 who was, like you said, precognizant.

Thanks for reviewing!

So is there any connection between Bella's Charlie and Edward's Charlie?  They can't be the same, of course.

Author's Response:

I wondered about that myself.  There's nothing concrete, but Edward's family does typically pass a name down from father to son.  I don't ever come out and say there's a link, but I don't ever come out and say there isn't either.

Thanks for reviewing!

awesome chapter!

I'm so rooting for Edward to figure it out, surely when he sees the desk, he'll recognize it as his own! I know he'll figure it out!

Author's Response:

Edward has no memory of anything from his human life at all.  Only what he sees in Carlisle's mind.  Of course, what do you think Elizabeth's first action was when she found him in his bed sick with the influenza?  (After screaming, of course.)  And where was the desk located?

I won't leave him thinking he's going crazy for long, I promise!

Today's Edward! Finally! I like your twist on the story, so I don't mind the slight changes at all. I really didn't think of Edward having forgotten all about his exchange with Bella as a human. But he told Carlisle about it back in 1918, so perhaps Carlisle will be able to explain it to him at some point? Perhaps Carlisle will realize she is the girl Edward corresponded with and tell Edward about it? I hope they will somehow be able to help Bella. And maybe she will recognize something about Edward if she sees him or hears about him and thus recover. I'm just guessing here, I have no idea which way you're going with this, but it doesn't matter. I love this story, and I'm so glad for the many updates the past days.

And congratulations on becoming a grandmother!

Author's Response:

Yipee!  2009 Edward!

Edward did tell Carlisle, but Carlisle assumed Bella was living in 1918 as well.  Of course, Carlisle is rather bright, and assumptions can be changed when given more information.

Well, that's an interesting twist. Completely logical in hindsight though.
By the way, how do you manage to post so quickly?

Author's Response:

My beta, Jakeward, has been on fire lately!  She's getting the chapters up as soon as I get them in the queue!  The story is still being betad and edited, though.  So I'm afraid the run of fast chapters is over.  Hopefully once a week, give or take, though.

Thanks for reviewing!

Wow, Edward doesn't remember Bella - tragic!

Author's Response:

He doesn't remeber anything.  Not Bella, not his parents, not his friends, nothing.  But don't worry, I've got good things lined up for our Edward after everything I put him through.

Thanks for revieiwng!

I was wondering if you would take this direction, only because I saw it previously work well in Beyond Time by TKegl. It completely makes sense (within the limited scientific reasoning we can apply to vamps) that Edward lost his memories from around the time of the fever. I always assumed Alice's memory loss was caused by electroshock treatments.

Author's Response:

"Beyond Time" was the story that inspired me to write this in the first place.  There was a special circumstance surrounding Edward and Elizabeth's deaths that Edward will explain to Bella eventually.  Fevers with the Spanish Flu reached 105, and they knew very little about proper dosages back then.  Those two things combined with the venom freezing the body as it is at that moment, I think could easily cause memory loss. There is a reason why I made Edward loose his memory, which you'll see soon enough.

Ooh poor Bella and poor Edward.

I never thought of Edward not remembering his desk and Bella.

But it seems the memories are there somewhere waiting to emerge.

I hope for better times soon;)

Loved the chapter.

P.s. I'm notalittlelamb on FF. I read and review there a new chapter comes first!!!

Author's Response:

Better times are coming!  I promise!

I've been trying to update on FFn since Friday night, but I keep getting connection errors.  I'm glad you found it here!

I love this story......I can't wait for your next post!!!!!  I feel so bad for Bella....  I can't imagine her reaction when she finally meets him....assuming she is meeting him.

Author's Response:

Oh, they will meet, I promise!  That is the point of the whole story, afterall.  And it won't be too very much longer now, I promise!

How sad - poor Bella, believing Edward has finally gone beyond her ability to connect with him.

Author's Response:

I promise it'll get better!   I won't leave them hanging for long, they've been through enough already!

YOU are freaking KILLING me!  OH my goodness!  THIS!  THIS is why I read fanfiction: Because of brilliant authors like you who make me fall in love with the characters all over again - who make Edward and Bella feel real.  I have laughed and cried so much over this story!  You are brilliant!  You have the talent to make us feel what Edward and Bella are feeling.  You've drawn out this story expertly and it's all seemed so real; there's been nothing false about it AT ALL!  I'm such a fan.  I can't wait to see what hapens next.  I'm so thankful that this is updated quickly.

Wow, Edward must have been going nuts while Bella was in Forks for that week during Easter.  :D  I'm assuming that Alice told him he had to wait.  I cannot wait to read the reunion scene!  My heart is quickening at the thought of it and I'm all giddy. I feel so badly for Bella.  I hope her heartache won't last too long.  Poor thing.

I can't say enough for your writing.  It's just beautiful.  Please write more after this story is done!  Keep going!  :D  I'll read anything you write!

Author's Response:

Death by fanfiction?  Well, there are worse ways to go!

Oh, thank you so much!  I'm so glad you like it.  I'm afraid the rush of chapters is over, though.  The story is fully written, but it is still being betad and edited.  Hopefully once a week or so.

Alice saw nothing.  Bella, right now, is nothing to the Cullens but Charlie's daughter.  They left Forks over Easter becaues of the "missing" campers, not Bella.  She had nothing to do with it.

I promise, I won't keep them waiting for long.  I think I've put them through enough already, don't you?

I'm bawling my eyes out.  That last letter never being delivered was like twisting the knife sticking out of my chest.  I loved the way you kept us hanging between hope and dispair along with Bella while she took the time to comfirm her fears.  Can't wait to see how you segue to a modern, face to face relationship.  Go, you!!

Author's Response:

Go, me!  Yeah!

I had several reviewers ask about when Edward's letters stop coming, but I didn't have anyone question if her letters would stop going.  The way I see it is once Edward was no longer there to receive them, the bond was broken because it was them all along, their bond was what was enabling them to write to each other.

Thanks for reviewing!

Okay, so, I cried. It took me a while to remember that Edward does live in a sense. You are an amazing writer. I was immediately pulled into Bella's pain despite the fact that I know they live happily ever after. I loved this chapter, and I can't wait to read more. Will vampire Edward be in 2009 or 1918?

Author's Response:

Oh, I made you cry?  Goodie.

Just remember, things will get better.

Vampire Edward will be in 2009.  He will recount to Bella some of what he's been up to, but not much.  This is very much the Edward and Bella show and the focus is on them and their interaction.

Thanks for reviewing!

That was so sad.  I loved the formatting while Bella was thinking about the flu.  I think it realy added to the emotions.

I can't wait to find out how much Vampward remembers about her.  I wonder if he & Carlisle retrieved the painting, photos and the letters.

Author's Response:

I thought the formating added to it, too.  It showed how her mind was racing, I thought.

Vampire Edward is coming up very soon, I promise!

This story is truly beyond brilliant.  I love your attention to detail that makes it all so real.  Hard to read at times with the influenza but amazing.  Every time I see there is a new chapter posted, I feel like Bella finding a new letter in her desk.

Author's Response:

Oh, that's such a sweet way of putting it!  New updates make you feel like Bella finding a new letter in her desk!  I'll be putting chapter 20 in the validation queue shortly.  I'm glad you like my story so far.  Thanks for reviewing!

Wow! Another chapter so soon! That's awesome!

Edward's declaration of love was so beautiful, so sweet and so painfull at the same time. It made Bella so happy, she is having a wonderfull day(even with the incident with Sonia and the condoms, Lol), and when I was reading about it, all I could think about was how much Edward must be suffering.
And when Bella found her letter still at the desk, damn, it broke my heart that Edward didn't get her letter and her declaration of love. And when Bella realizes that Edward must be sick or even dead...god, such a bittersweet chapter.
And of course, when Bella talks with Mic's family, that's pretty crazy. I always thought Mic was a vampire, but obviously he's just part of the family who knows of the stories about the desk, and that they thought were just that, stories. Now it's clear why Edward had to tell the story to his cousins, otherwise, Bella would never get the desk.
Also, I never expected Bella would still get the pictures!

Anyway, I'm REALLY looking forward to the next one. I hope you post it and it gets validated as quickly as this one.

Author's Response:

I'll get chapter 20 into the validation queue shortly, I promise!

I'm so glad you liked it.  I liked the range of emotion going from so high to so low in the same chapter.  I'm surprised how many people thought Mic might've been a vampire.  They were outside together, in Phoenix, in the middle of the day.  Nope, Mic is 100% species human.  None of the 21st century Masen's have any clue about vampires, but they all know the family legend about poor cousin Edward who was so brave and so handsome and died so young and the mysterious girl from their time who he'd loved.  Of course, until a real live girl shows up and introduces herself as Bella Swan under just the right circumstances and at just the right time, none of them believed it for a second.  Much the way their 1918 counterparts didn't believe Edward when he told them.

No, I'm afraid those pictures never made it to Bella's hands before Edward's supposed death.  But that is a very important part of the rest of the story.

I'm so glad you like it!  Thanks for revieiwng!

So sorry for the fail on getting you this review so late! I cannot even begin to tell you how your story makes me smile and cry, all in the matter of minutes. How it affects me!! How Edward's (well now we know final) letter brought me to tears. The words of love...all of his sweet sweet words, and how it all ended "I remain, Yours Edward" damn! Yes girl, you brought it all home! How happy Bella is, to finally know, that Edward feels the same way about her, that he loves her the way she loves him...wow! Got to say...gave me goosebumps! She finishes off her letter, gets back to her life, even spending time with her neighbors, taking Kenny to a game, after making amazing pancakes...wow! We feel her joy!! Loved it!! Then her neighbor (hahaha) decides that Bella needs to go shopping (hahahaha) had me hysterical. Poor Bella. She's a girl who won't have sex for a while, but now she's fully prepared, and Renee and Phil knew....I just hope Tanya and Charlie didn't, haha, or maybe Edward would find out, hell so so so funny! Now, you wrote the next part so freaking well, it had me crying. Yes, crying, but it was a good cry I guess. Bella realizes something is wrong...her letter is still there!!! She needs answers so she decides to call Michael Masen...and wow! I couldn't believe all of the people who were so so so excited to hear that Bella Swan was on the phone. They all knew the story. They knew of her. She was so hopeful, even hoping for a picture!! A picture to show Edward, but that wouldn't be happening, she soon realizes and my heart broke, for Bella. She knew! He was gone! Well, gone from human life we know! Wonder what Michael knows?? When Michael tells Bella that she was the love of Edward's life, damn, I was tearing up again. The last words she says to him, make me tear as well, and I wonder if Edward will find out what she says, that "she loved him too"! Damn...can't wait to see what Edward has been up to, and how he has been keeping an eye on Bella. You really have a wonderful writing style, and I can't wait! Damn woman!! LOL!!! Love it all! xoxoxoxo

Author's Response:

Wow, what a review!

I took three of the last words Edward wrote as a human, I remain, Yours, for the title of the story because I really thought they captured the whole story.  He was no longer saying he was her friend, he was saying he was hers.  Those words are truer than Edward could've ever imagined.

I'm glad I made you "good cry."  Just remember, all bad things come to an end.  There is a rainbow to come after the storm, I promise.

I've had several people ask if Mic was a vampire, which surprised me, since when we met him he went outside with Bella and Renee in Phoenix in the middle of the day, but he is 100% human, as are all the 21st century Masen's.  None of the current day Masen's have any idea about vampires, but they do all know the family legend about poor cousin Edward who was so handsome and so brave and died so young and who loved a girl from another time.  Of course, just like their 1918 counterparts, none of them believed it for a second.  Not until the girl in the legend showed up and introduced herself.

I'll be putting chapter 20 in the validation queue shortly.  I'm glad you like my story so far.  Thanks for reviewing!
