Author's Response: He felt it yes, but he ddid not hear it. He is becomming more sure of his feelings, but he fears her feelings may be tied to her station in life. He is falling hard, but he is not ready yet to acknowledge either his feelings or hers,

This chapter just breaks my heart, poor Ness thinking that she did something wrong and Jake can't come to terms with his thinking he failed to keep Ness safe. Which makes me wonder why Edward and Bella swore Ness to secrecy about what really happened? that Ness didn't give herself to James to save Jake.

Author's Response: The reason for the secracy is the fact that Bella killed James, If they are known to have been there it puts Bella at risk.
Jacob... nw he is another story. Being a protector both by profession and by nature he feels he has failed to protect his beautiful girl. He has not even admitted to himself how deeply he feels for her, and now after one night in her arms he thinks she has had to debase herself by bedding down with James of all people. (Or so he thinks) remember he knows nothing of what happened to free he and Edward.
Have faith I am, and always have been a HEA kind of girl.

This story is so interesting and different! Will we get JPOV? Obviously he is attracted to her and she to him. Also will we learn more about what Edward and Bella do? What are the beasts that Bella sells. Also are the slaves not educated? How old is Ness at this point? How old is Jacob?

Author's Response: Wow! great questions. Yes we will get JPOV and even Bella and perhaps a few others. Nessie is 17. The beasts that Bella and Edward sell are horses and cattle. Theirs are the finest horses around and Jacob is their man at arms, He eventually goes on delivery trips for them as their representative. It is in fact a big deal and a large part of the story.
The slaves are educated to a certain degree, the pleasure slaves being the most educated. They must be able to entertain and converse with the Masters and Mistresses. It is like the Corteseans of Italy in that they wewre the most educated women of all. Nessie will be educated in dance, music, polotics and business.
Jacob is about 24. He is older than she, but he is also kind and caring, but a bit lonely. His sister is married, his best friend is married and he is still not.
I am thrilled that you like the story, Dixie. I could really use a pre-reader if you are interested. I always love your comments and questions.
