I'm pissed at Edward. I get that he wants to reassure Carlisle about being his successor, but that doesn't excuse his behaviour and making Bella leave early. Not at all. He told Carlisle he was unreachable; why didn't he just ignore the phone til the game ended?
I'd slap him hard if I were Bella AND go on a date with Peter, too. Ha!

Peter sounds nice. Since Edward has to focus on his career right now and is maintaining a 'friend only' relationship with Bella, maybe she should see Peter or someone else in all the free, Edward-less time she has. Better than sitting around alone...

Oh I LOVE jealous Edward. He's almost my favourite kind! And DMM Edward is one of my faves because he's so awkward and sweet, but hot at the same time as being jealous.
Poor Bella. She's confused, and she ahs a right to be. Edward is sending her mixed signals. What does he expect?
I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid like a gree to date someone else because Bella might have met someone.

Ah - he's realizing he wants more with Bella, but that would hurt the "reliable & trustworthy" part. He also can't get the nerve to tell her that, so she doesn't understand. He needs to figure out a solution so he can really have her in his life.

Not to be overly critical, because I seriously love this story, but Carlisle has Mets season tickets? Mets? I know thay they have a new stadium and all, but so do the Yankees, and the Yankees are, well, the YANKEES. They are the class act in NY baseball (Bleacher Creatures and "Bronx Cheers" not withstanding), and Cullen Enterprises (that is the businees name, right?) is a classy corporation. Except the mouth breather, definitely not the mouth breather.
One other thing, no self-respecting Westchester (Rockland, Orange, Putnam, or Duchess County) resident refers to his or her place of residence as "upstate." Upstate is always north of where you are. You could be 10 minutes from the Canadian border and consider yourself "downstate" of the people who live north of you. It's a quirk specific to New York, I think.
OK, sports and goegraphy lesson over. I love this story, the banter and the verbal diarrhea is just so much fun to read. Keep writing this, 'cuz I love reading it (and it's all about me - another NY thing).
Author's Response: I don't really need a lesson, but thank you.
CI has tickets to the Mets AND the Yankees, as many large corporations based in New York would. But Edward knows that Bella prefers the Mets so he chose those tickets for her. Also, I'm from New York City and we always call Westechester upstate. Moreover, I have friends who live upstate in Westchester and Rockland and they also call it upstate. If that's not your experience, that's certainly valid for you, just not necessarily for me.

Ahhh, everytime I read one of these chapters I feel so sad that I can't just continue... Im not very patient it seems :(
I really want them to at least get to the point where they realize that they need to be together somehow... poor Bella, she doesn't even think that he's interested in her... that sucks for both of them...

Man oh Man! You can sure write! Loved this chapter, and it completely has my attention, which was surely your idea in the first place. I laughed out loud so many times, my kids must think I'm nuts. I actually do work in the informercial business, and have met Vince the Sham Wow/Slap Chop guy. You're right for wanting to slap him. In real life his skin is the consistency of an old leather couch.

dang Edward was being so possessive with Bella at the game. I can understand why she thinks he can only be a friend, hell even Edward has stated no relationships with co-workers, but obviously jealousy trumps all that! then freakin-A, Edward is going to be taking over the company!! so what the heck is Edward thinking?? he could cut off ties with Bella to avoid any problems or gossip, but he obviously wants her. he could ask her to quit her job so there would be no more conflict, but then what would she do for money? no way she would want to just live off his money. where the heck are u guys taking this? ugh, I am so intrigued!! thanks so much for the quick update, I was pleasantly surprised but now cannot wait for the next :) ~Tracey xoxox

OMG! this was so much easier to read when i had the next chapter waiting for me. Bella is smart and she knows better, however somethimes we talk ourselves out of the good things in our life becuase we just can believe our luck could be that good, or that Fate might actually turn a kind cheek to us. But in this case, his actions today were valid and forward. He is trying ... just maybe she needs him to be mroe blunt. They two are too smart to be this stupid! GET them in the SACK SOON!
