What a chapter, huh?!!! I don't even know where to start....maybe a deep breath as I gather my thoughts.
For starters Jacob suprised me with his revelation(s). I grew up in a small town and know for a fact that nothing is sacred and keeping a secret is damn near impossible. I feel bad for Bella that everyone knows about her first time and yet they don't know anything at all. They believe what they want to believe and it is so unfair to her. I am not real happy with Rosalie right now. I really wish Jake would have come to Bella right away but ya know what, he's a kid. Maybe in his mind he was protecting her, hell I don't know. Maybe he wanted to spare her the humiliation. His admission of having feelings for her were cute but, yeah he is still just a kid. On the other hand had Bella known how wide spread the gossip was there is nothing she could have said or done to stop it. What we have here is a Catch 22 and SNAFU all tangled up as one creating a clusterfuck of the worst kind.
Alice. Now here is another surprise, well maybe not. Again I chalk it up to her youth. Bella and Rosalie are her friends. She is wise not to take sides Besides how would that work. Bella obviously did not have the whole story from Rose so why would Alice. And it is possible that Alice is privy to information that Bella does not have. Maybe Rosalie told Alice more. Maybe Jasper did. We do not know. I just wish she could have done a little more to defend and or share her info with Bella so she could have been better prepared. Again I will chalk it up to youth and inexperience. Realistically how many people are born with this kind of knowledge.
So many woulda, coulda, shouldas and this instance is the perfect example of the saying, It is what it is. Had Rose been up front an honest from the very beginning it could have been different. But here we have this beautiful girl. To gaze upon her one would think that she has it all ... the beauty, the body, flirtatious personality, lusted after by the boys, envied by the girls. Yes, she has everything and yet she has nothing at all.
In this chapter Edward is the one that unkowingly enlightens us the most of the mystery that is Rosalie. Everyone has a story to tell and I realize her story will not be told until BC is complete, however, Edward has given us a between the lines glimpse into her mind. We find out that E/R may have fooled around that first night but did not do the deed. Well gasp, how can this be, all men want to tap what she has to offer and yet here is a guy that can resist her wiles. That had to be a downer. Here she is the ultimate siren and PianoGod is not going there? E.x.c.u.s.e. M.e.? Now I would have to go back for her exact wording but she did allude to the fact that they were together intimately and none of us had any reason to question that. And she was truthful about the no strrings, calling it off at anytime - mutually. But in a effort to save face, and this is speculation on my part (well all of it is actually), she tells Bella she called it off, mutally of course. At this very moment, I mean as I type this, I wonder if Alice knew that. Just because Rosale moved on to another does not mean she is fine with her friend moving on with the one that called it off first. I think, now more than ever, that Rose saw the E/B interaction and may even be a little jealous that of the relationship Bella has with Edward. I have to wonder if she has ever had a healthy relationship with any of the guys she has known. She certainly has no life experience to draw upon to have one. Could it be that she is a bit envious, not that B/E were together, but the get to know you phase that she has witnessed between them? Please understand that I expect no response to this I am simply giving you a glimpse of my mindset.
Now for the continuing E/B saga. I love the relationship that is building between these two. The gentle conversation of their past, the present, the teasing, the inuendos - there is a little bit of everything. They share more and more of what makes them tick, their aspirations, their fears. The ease in which they speak makes my heart warm. This is what Rosalie has never had.

Author's Response: As always, I adore your reviews.
Yeah, I debated about a thousand times if I should put in the Jacob crush or not. Ultimately I decided to, because Bella needed to feel completely isolated and literally have Edward be her only friend for a little while. She’s pissed at Jacob, Alice is on vacation, Angela is at camp, Rosalie won’t speak to her, etc. I know what you mean about him telling her about the gossip, but at the same time…it doesn’t change anything. You’re very right, it’s pretty much just a clusterfuck all around.
I have been really surprised by people’s reaction to Alice. I feel like Alice is kind of in an impossible situation. If she takes sides, she loses Rose completely and any chance of smoothing things over eventually. She didn’t know any more about the situation than Bella did. Rosalie has confided in no one. And yes, Alice is young and inexperienced, and has never had to deal with a situation like this before.
Yeah, Rose really is a sad character in so many ways. The good news is, she gets her HEA eventually, she just has to go through a lot of shit to get there.
Yeah, Rose is about as pissed as you can get. You’re going to see just how much over the next five chapters or so. (laughs) I can’t say I blame you for reaction. The compliment to Bella is appreciated, but I’m not entirely sure it was class and maturity as much as shock. She was really too stunned to react, because she never expected a betrayal of that magnitude.
You are absolutely right that Rose was over Edward but not alright with him moving on. I’m not quite sure what you mean about Rose still being with Edward if he hadn’t been interested in Bella while they were together. Can you explain?
I am so glad I’m no longer a teenage girl. I never intentionally caused drama but I sure found it a few times. Nothing like being 18 and oblivious, right? Trust me, you will LOVE Rose’s take on this, but you’re going to have to wait until the end of the story to get it. Hope you can be patient! She will realize Bella is important, but it’s going to be a long, slow road.
(laughs) I am glad the virginity conversation caused such a reaction! As I’ve said, I lived this portion of the story and oh man was my “Edward” thrown for a loop. He had no idea. I know some people have really horrible/painful first times but mine was absolutely about as good as you can ask for. He really did scold me for not telling him. Whoops. Again with the oblivious 18 year old thing…
They are both going to go a little crazy wanting each other and not being able to act on it. Especially now that they know just how good it can be.
