The death of Calisle bothered me from the begining.  I guess bc in myhead no matter how the fan fic authors write in their characters, they are who they are in my head.....the Cullens.  They hold a special place in my heart.  So Esme without Carlise is just to much.  So I get the need that Esme has to not be here anymore without him.  I don't know how even after 60 years or so with the same person that once they leave here we are expected to carry on.  It's nice to think that once we leave here there is a different space we go to.....some know that is not true......others do.....the are the lucky ones, the ones who believe that. I really don't agree that the Harry Potter books are trying to tell us that fear of dying is an "unhealthy obsession".  I think the author did it bc she hated having to write so many. LOL.  I was angry when Cedric died, and I hated her when Dobbie died.  She like everyone else makes evil win out in more ways than one. The death of both Voldermort and Lestrange were so anti climatic, almost as if it was an afterthught, like the author did it bc she was told to.  Just my opinion but Harry lost everyone......they all lost so much and then in the end.....well it's just my opinion but RL leaves us with all the shitbags and takes the great people too early.

That's cool that you don't agree about HP.  Perhaps I was getting that because *I* have an unhealthy obsession with death.  But Voldemort's whole thing is how to avoid death - he expends all his energy in making horcruxes and protecting himself from death, and in the process becomes a monster who has no concept of love, compassion or trust.

Anyway, this story is supposed to be about living life to the fullest even though death lingers around every corner.  Edward has shut himself away because he was hurt so badly by Carlisle's death, and Bella basically forces him to rejoin the world.  Through her he reconnects with his family and learns to put his heart in her hands.

See? Unhealthy obsession with death.  That's me. :)

That was great! Love the poem too. Are you reading Breakers by les16 here? Love it! Has a wonderful Bella and Edward is pained but wonderful with Bellas daughter. He is an ex con starting over in a small fishing town in Maine.

I still feel so bad that Esme felt she had to end herself, but she missed Carlisle so much, it's understandable she wanted to be with him. It sure took a toll on Edward, as well as the rest of the Cullens. There is solace for Edward, only in Bella, and her love for him. She is his savior in every way, physically, mentally, sexually and spiritually. I truly have loved this story. Thanks for the recs, though I have already devoured Music of the Night. You're right on, it's a wonderful story.

Well, to sound trite, that's a downer! I suppose if there was never anyone who will love you as a lover could, and you would never naturally die, what else could you do? Somehow, I think Edward's night will be a bit different than he envisioned.
