I love this story. It really picks up on the innocence of the characters that many fanfictions disregard (not necessarily a bad thing) and I love it.

Ah, such a sweet story. And I happen to be studying western migration of the late 19th century right now so it makes the story all that more real. Please continue.

I been reading Linda Lael Miller's collections and she gave me this familiarity how MOB works; what I didn't know was how costly it was. It seems crazy to be charged that much, considering it was a hard time. No wonder women are threated so poorly cause basically the whole charade is buying a woman/maid/cook/bed warmer/baby maker/chickenfeeder/horse groomer/puching bag( no choice ifapplied otherwise) and her name is "Wife"
Author's Response: The $1.50 was what one source said -- they could be wrong, since to me that is an extraordinary amount. And yes, women were taking their lives in their hands when they answered those ads. The men were also preyed upon by gold diggers.
Perhaps the high fee was to provide some insurance that the people were serious about their application and they would follow up appropriately. Hopefully through the exchange of letters, some depth of character could be ascertained, but you know how that is.
I am sure it was a romantic notion to some, though and that's why they followed through on it.

1.50 a word? I guess it would pay to be concise.
Author's Response: It was an exorbitant price in those days -- even now, I suppose.
Thank you for reading.
