Bella and Edward have filled Jacob and Ness in on the danger posed by the Volturi. Sure brought back bad memories of the last visit from the Italians. Bella was hoping Ness hadn't remembered how scary and sad that time was, but even a hybrid baby has pretty good recall, I guess. In the midst of all the angst, the youngsters announce their engagement. Lots for everyone to absorb. Bella and Edward remember how things were when they were in the kid's shoes, and that must help. Charlie and Catherine are making such good progress, I'm looking for them to get back some of what Damian stole from them. Mainly the loving ease they had with each other. It sure helped Catherine to talk to Carlisle, and for her to share some of that session with Charlie. Pretty big hurdles, mentally for them both. Their shared talents are sure awesome, I can hardly wait for those talents to be unleashed on the Volturi!

You know Nessie is very immature and thoughtless when it comes to knowing about newborns. Geez. Sure she's been sheltered but come on - she knows all about the bloodlust. Why is she acting like a stupid teenager? The pack should have been able to talk sense into her - the elders should have at the very least. She's starting to annoy me. Love the story - can't wait to find out about Aro's plan. Here's a johnny come lately theory - Aro targeted Edwards family for a "mind reader". Well that didn't work out for him because he had planned on having her killed. Keep writing.

I'm a few chapters back from everyone else but I have to say I think you did a marvelous job on this chapter. I'm surprised that the evil Damien has not had any curiosity about the Cullens or tried to spy on them. I'm also wondering whether or not if Edward gets close to him if he can hear his thoughts - that will be interesting. I'm also very curious about why Aro is picking on Cathrine? I'll be catching up soon. Keep writing. Oh, I love that Charlie is falling in love with Cathrine.
Author's Response: Well hi, Debbie! I'm assuming you're a new reader? If you are, thanks so much for choosing my little fic. Well, not that little anymore. lol! I love all your questions, and I can say, with relative certainty, you will get some answers soon. I wouldn't want to ruin the ride for you. ;)
Regarding Damian, you might want to go back and reread Ch 7, as I gave a few answers in it. Remember, he's on a mission, and he's been instructed to stay away from the Cullens so as to not be detected. He wants to accomplish it, if only for the reward he is determined to receive when he does.
The rest of your questions, I'll let you find out as you continue. Thanks so much for reading this little ditty of mine, and for your kind words, and for reviewing. I'd love to know what you think when you get further in. ;)

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am so happy and excited that there is an update chapter posted! I LOVE this story and I really, really miss it when we have not had a new chapter. You know I will stick with this story til the very last word of it.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this story and cannot wait til we get to the part where the Volturi get involved, as we know they probably will, they have to. Catherine has a special talent and they will want her and most likely Charlie as well. The Cullens will fight for them, (we hope!) and hopefully will win against the Volturi.
I KNOW that not all stories here at Twilighted are HEA. I have read a few that weren't, but were still satisfying in the end, NOT that I want you to write a NOT "Happily Ever After" ending for this story! Au contraire'! I want a HEA for ALL the Cullens, Charlie and Catherine too, and the wolves, of course. I LOVE the new chapter and now I cannot wait for more. MORE! SOON! NOW!
YOU MADE MY DAY!!! This update made my day, made me very happy and dance the happy, happy, joy, joy dance! :O)
I am always squealing like a little girl when I see an update in my inbox for your wonderfully wonderful story!
And I am not a "little girl" Not at all! I am a 57 yr old, 6 ft tall, 150 lb, statuesque woman who just lost 50 lbs and can now wear the size 13 in the junior section at Kohls! I really did lose 50 lbs in one year and can wear the X-Large tee shirts in the children's section! WOW!!!
I am SO happy with the loss from 200 lbs to 150...I really needed to and I wanted to and I did it, ON MY OWN, no program no help, no one, just me and a new way of eating.
NO exercise either! I can't really do much exercise because I had spine surgery a couple years ago and I have knee surgery coming up in May! Yet, I lost 50 lbs by changing what I eat! It CAN BE DONE! I am proof. A good eating plan and lots of Twilighted fanfiction and you are good to go! :O)
(Of course, I had to buy ALL new clothes. I went from a size 18/20 to a size 12 in misses and 13 in jumiors. I am so happy and thinner too! And I got to choose a whole new wardrobe and am still buying clothes, CUTE clothes for the smaller build and figure. I lost most of my boobs too! I am happy about that cause 5 yrs ago, I had a reduction surgery from a 44 double I, down to a 40D and now I am 38C! :O)
And I am NOT buying the old lady women's sizes! I am getting all really cute clothes for the summer and I bought a beautiful Spring Easter dress for church.
I am also buying clothes for a cruise we have coming up in May just before my knee surgery. I am going to go on a cruise and then come home to get my knee cut up and fixed and then recuperate. But at least I will have the cruise to dream abouit while I am lying in bed in pain.
So, I had to get a a WHOLE NEW WARDROBE! I am still buying lots and lots of clothes. And then will come Fall styles and I get more new clothes. I will never gain that mush weight again. I felt bad and sickly all the time at 200 lbs for me. I feel better and more active, even if I can't do much exercise, but I do move around better now. That weight was just so heavy and weighing me down, physically, mentally and for sure emotionally! :o)
So anyone can do it! I just wanted to share that w3ith everuyone because i was so excioted when I got on nthe scale and I was at 150, which was my goal! I made it!
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program of reviews and all positive goodness for the author and the story!
Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!
A much thinner and happier Disney Vampire
Author's Response: DV! Omigosh! I think that's the longest review I've ever seen, let alone for my own fic! Oh, and I just love all that you said, I just don't even know where to begin. I don't want to give anything away! LOL! But don't worry, darling, you won't have to wait much longer. We're almost there. ;)
And now about YOU! I'm fist pumping in the air for you, even though you can't see it. GOOD. FOR. YOU!!! Way to start down the path to getting healthy. That's the attitude I took myself about a year and a half ago - amazing how good it feels to shop for those smaller clothes, right? LOL! It will most definitely help with your knee, and I'm sure the surgery will make it feel even better. You just make sure you get out there for your walk BEFORE reading anymore of my updates. I do NOT want to be the cause of keeping you from that. Hahaha!
Thank you SO MUCH for this uplifting review, for your kind words, and for keeping with this fic. I know I've been a bad updater lately, and I am trying to write and get things posted as fast as I can. It's just my perfection, my process, and RL keeps getting in the way! But don't worry, you'll have your end. It may necessarily be HEA completely, but... well, that's enough on that. lol!
Thanks, dearest! And keep up the awesome work!

I am enjoying your story with the emphasis on Charlie instead of the usual Bella and Edward. He is a favorite character of mine in the Twilight series. I think Catherine is such a strong female figure but I am hoping that Charlie will be able to soften her edges. Your vilain Damian is such an enigma and I am still interested what the back story is with Aro and why she has to be taken out. I am glad to welcome back all of the Cullens and Jacob (I hope to see some of the wolf pack back in action as well).
Author's Response: Hi Intsu! Thank you so much for enjoying this. I said in some reviews in the very beginning that I just felt that Charlie needed some attention, and the rest of his story. An idea popped into my head, and well...here we are. lol
I need to confess that I clicked on your name to see your bio - would you believe that you were born on the same day, a year before my mom? (She was a very young bride, and had me a year later. LOL!) She is retired and widowed as well. What a coincidence!
I wanted Catherine to be a strong female, only because Bella sometimes ticks me off, not to mention I felt that Charlie needed that, needed her to be that way somewhat. Every yin needs its yang, in a way, but I didn't want to make her too independent as that they will need each other as they go further along.
Much of Damian and Aro will be a mystery, although I do give a healthy dose of Damian and his story in Ch 7. Now Aro, and the rest of them? Well, you'll just have to find out as you read. LOL! I never want to give anything away!
Thanks so much for reading, and for taking the time to review. I do read all of them, even though lately I've been struggling with replying. I hope to hear more feedback from you soon. Thanks again!

This was worth waiting for, so don't sweat the small stuff. Charlie and Catherine still have so much to deal with, I'm glad they have this get-away time to themselves. After Catherine talked some of it out with Carlisle, I now have hope she and Charlie are going to be able to get past their trauma. As Carlisle said, talking it out is half the battle. Catherine is fortunate to have a man who has a clue about how to deal with her rape. Charlie knows more than most how to relate, what to do and not to do. With the love between them, there's little they can't face down and conquer. I'm rooting hard for them, and looking forward to the coming chapters.
Author's Response: YAY!!!! Thank you for saying that, and thank you for your encouragement. I need it right now. I received my first, not so nice, review last week, and well, it sorta stung a bit. I've deleted it, and PM'd the person who sent it. She has strong feelings about the subject matter, and as I understand her issue, I don't necessarily agree with her methods. But enough about that. ;)
You REALLY got what I was trying to do here, and that is immensely satisfying, so thank you for that. Yeah, I think they've been through quite a lot, in just a month, and they need to...hmmm...find themselves again. As friends, as new vampires, and... as lovers. After all, Twilight, in it's most basic sense, is a love story. Why shouldn't Charlie's story, and the Saga's continuation, have that as it's center as well? I think we're ALL in agreeement Charlie definitely needs some lovin. ;)
Ebs and flows, peaks and valleys, calm and storm - I'm pretty sure that's what love is all about, not that I've ever known personally, but I have it around me. Charlie and Catherine needed the calm, a valley amidst a mountain if you will, if only for a little while, and this is why I changed the end of this chapter. Their struggles aren't over yet, not by a long shot, but where one alone is strong, two together are even stronger. ;)
Thank you for your kind words, your very astute insight - you're spot on - and for your love of this fic. I'm rooting hard for them too! LOL!

Moving along... :-)
Carlisle and Catherine's talk was not only spot on canon - regarding Carlisle... but his professionalism, and understanding really hit the mark with Catherine. Well done! I also liked the part as where she felt the confidence from Carlisle in regards to the Volturi threat. I'm wondering what information Alice has for all of them... and how close we are to having the Cullens send word to their friends.
You ended the chapter on a good note, providing some happiness to Catherine and Charlie... I'm also sensing some special power Charlie may have in addition to what he's already demonstrated. Time of course will tell all.
Thanks for sharing your awesome talent - for this is quite a ride! :-)
Author's Response: JR!
Might I say it's lovely to see you. Thank you for your intriguiging ;) review to 28, and now for 29. I'll try to respond to some of your...issues. LOL!
Renesmee - I'll say I've known to many bratty teenagers to let her off scot free, even IF she IS a Cullen. I've had several plot twists and possibilities with her in my mind all along. I've even had someone PM me for an outtake of Jake and her. Oye! Don't know if I can write that. I STILL haven't settled on which way I'm going to go, because I'm battling the "canon" battle in my head, but I can say that the next chapter will settle them.
Even from my early days, a looonnng time ago on that Twilight blog we were on (the name is escaping me now), the end has been relatively clear to me, what I think has to happen. I steer clear from any fic that may even broach it. I think I can do it justice, let's say from a offensive, chess game strategy. It's how I play, it's how I'm approaching this. I'm already assuming you'll poke holes in it, and that's why I love you as a reviewer. ;)
THANK YOU for considering Carlisle's and Catherine's chat spot on. You have NO idea how I obsessed over it, how I researched it, and how I got one Carlisle "voice" expert, and one Physicist to read it over for me. The Physicist just because she knows a helluva lot more science than me. Needless to say, that section was the most difficult one since Ch 16, and one I hoped would ring close to acceptable. It means a ton that you thought it so.
You will not get me to tip my hand on Alice, even thought you try so hard here. lol! But I know you adore her, and you and I both know she has more to do.
I had a different ending for this chapter, which probably would have made it 15,000 words! I changed it, and pushed some to the next chapter. I just needed for it to be a little lighter than so many that have been before it. Just a little.
Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words, your thoughtful commentary, and for keeping me on my toes. And obviously...for sticking with it! LOL!!!

Yay ! You´re back. And of course it can´t all be bad times, I loved this calm, but excited chapter.
I still can´t figure out Aros intentions so I am waiting eagerly for new chaapters.
Author's Response: Yes! I am! And I'm responding to your review. Hooray!! lol!
I just couldn't let this chapter end the way I had originally wanted it, and I'm glad you loved it as is. Don't worry, like I said, we're almost to the end, but Aro's intentions? Hmmm, we'll have to wait and see. ;)
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!!

I'm somewhat surprised at Renesmee's immaturity, but I won't go as far as to say it isn't plausible. I'm glad that Renesmee will be able to go back home because she needs peace of mind.
Now, this chapter explained why you won't read my tale yet. :-) But I will say this... you'll have a hell of a lot tougher time than I did... even with Charlie and Catherine. I can't see where Charlie being a Police Chief of a small town helping Jasper all that much when it comes to the strategy.
It will be inteseting to see who gathers this time. Maybe there will be new vampires joining up with the Cullens - now that they have heard of their earlier confrontation and I'm sure have been told the true motives of the white hat wearing Volturi coven. Vladimer and Stefan will finally get their wish. :-)
Thanks for sharing your talent - and I for one would much rather you spend your energy on a new chapter than responding to fan mail. :-)

Still digesting all this new information, even went back and reread parts. Three major points popped up, for me,Nessie, Charlie and Catherine, and the Volturi, not necessarily in order of importance. It looks like there will be a serious showdown between Ness and her parents and maybe Jake. Needs to happen soon, before they lose her for good. Next, Charlie and Catherine really need some alone time to figure out how to be with each other and not freak out Catherine. Maybe most importantly, the whole family, Cullens, Swans and Quileutes need to get together and plan how to combat the Volturi's coming attack. It's coming, sure as death and taxes, they will try to wipe out everyone they don't covet for their abilities. It's too bad it has to come to this, but Aro won't give up and leave them alone in peace, so I guess the fight will happen. You know what side I'm rooting for and no matter how long it takes, I know you'll have a good outcome for us . Sorry you have had such a rough time recently, hope things are better now and look forward to the next one. Take care and dream up really good stuff!

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! I was going through withdrawal symptoms from not having my fix of this story for so long...and fanfic withdrawal is not a pretty sight...staring at the computer saying, "Post! Post! Post!" , crawling on the floor under the desk to make sure the computer is hooked up correctly, checking email alerts every 5 minutes of every day of every week until an alert for THIS story is up...no, not a pretty sight at all... ;o)
But you came along at just the right moment with my update and now I am breathing easier and getting well from "fanfic chapter absence" slowly. It will take a few more chapters of this story posted VERY SOON to get me up to par...as well as some Vampire TLC from everyone's favorite doctor, Carlisle Cullen to get me quite well again...hehehe...
I LOVE this story and have missed it greatl I NEED MORE CHARLIE! I have missed our favorite shotgun toting Chief o' Police! Besides, he is closer to my age than the Cullen boys and also very handsome. I likes me my Charlie Swan, especially as played by Billy Burke.
(You do know that the actress who played the good witch, Glenda, in the movie "The Wizard of Oz " was also named Billie Burke. The spelling is different. Just a little piece of trivia for those who did not know that bit of information).
I am so glad you posted a chapter because I was wondering when or if you would come back. You are back and with a great chapter too!
Now I am just waiting for the next chapters to be posted... :o)

Hey, I just found your story and i have not moved from my computer until I finished all the chapters. Man, its really good and I like the detail. I never would have guessed Catherine and Edward were related.
I have a suggestion or my own guess about Aro's email. When he said She's the easiest to eliminate What if there are others like they found out other people in the CUllen family line share powers and they can't get the Cullens but the can get the relatives. That would be interesting, but since its your story you would know.
I live in Georgia and we are having a winter storm that has shutdown the whole state so, your story has kept me occupied for two day(i read slow) so thank you for that.
Author's Response: HI there, princesseva!
Thanks for taking time out to read my little fic, and for thinking it's good. lol! I often wonder myself. ;)
Your suggestion is intriguing, and a variant of it is something I tossed around for a bit. But here was my thinking - the Volturi are trying to evade any more direct confrontations with the Cullens. I would think that Aro is too smart to instigate what could be a sure, all-out, vamp war. I personally think that deep down, he's afraid of Carlisle, of what the Cullens have, and their friends, especially after what he saw the first time in BD. In some small way, it's why he backed away. After the reveal of Nessie, of what she actually was, he didn't have a leg to stand on, especially with his so-called witnesses. But again, that's just my take, and this fic is just my take. That's why we have the wonderful world of ff - everybody can take a shot. ;)
Your review here is for Chapter 27, and I've posted 2 more chapters now, so you've read enough to know why Aro wants Catherine. She is the...key for him from what he's "seen", and as he says, is the easiest to eliminate. From his vantage point, he can get rid of her, and the Cullens will never, ever, know. Well, that is, until she meets Charlie. A twist of fate? Or fete accompli? Aaah, I guess will find out together. ;)
Ugh this winter has been absolute hell. I hope you and yours came through it, and you are finally seeing some Spring. I'm outside of Chicago, where as you might know, if you blink the weather changes. This week we've already had a beautiful 65, and then yesterday SNOW! Unbelievable.
Thanks so much for reading, and your thoughtful comments. It's reviews like yours that help greatly, keep me thinking, and keep me writing. Hope to hear from you again soon!

Really enjoying the mirror gifts, and like how you've played with the existing gifts...esp. Charlies...like a cross between Jasper's and Aro's (having to touch to use the gift)
Author's Response: Hi Dryad!
Sorry it's taken me soooo long to respond. As I've said, RL's just been a bitch, and I've been devoting most spare time to writing. This review was for Ch 27, so hopefully you've had the chance to read 28, and 29 just posted. As soon as I finish your response, I'm moving onto to 30. Holy crow, thirty chapters....Sheesh! lol!
Thanks so much for liking the gifts. I thought long and hard about these - how Charlie's needed to be, and how it couldn't be. I knew Catherine's before I even started writing because I knew her story. I never thought of the simillarities between Charlie and Aro. That's a really good catch there, and something I might have to...stew a bit about. LOL! Thanks very much for that!
Thanks so much for reading, and reviewing. I hope to hear from you regarding 28 or 29! ;D

Okay, first things first... it will be interesting to find out Renesmee's rationale about going there when she's extremely intelligent and knows enough to know that there would be realistic danger if she did. :-)
So, the discovered the laptop with proof. I hadn't put it together until this chapter as to why she was a target. And you're right... now that the Volturi had failed in their attempt to assassinate Catherine - they'll have no choice but to launch another assult.
So, it's an epic confrontation all over again... and now it makes sense as to why you didn't want to read my tale. :-)
What is criticial is the element of surprise, and that is no longer part of the equation. The Volturi know what Bella's shield can do... the Volturi proved that they can work around Alice's visions... the Volturi are going to be extremely more lethal. So, I ask you... have you boxed yourself in a corner? Even if the Cullens recruit the same friends - they are still lacking a significant difference in their arsenal. Unless Charlie and Catherine can actually do more than what is on the surface thus far. :-)
Great ride and looking forward to MORE! Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent!

Not that it would do much good, but I'm thinking Renesmee ought to be spanked. Her thoughtlessness damn near got her killed. Between her parents and Jacob, I think she's going to catch hell, and should. Two really important pieces of information this time around. I'm so glad the Cullens found proof that Aro is behind Damian and he and the rest of the Volturi are coming after them again. If Alice's vision is accurate, they're going to be sorry for messing with the Cullens. Absolute power does corrupt absolutely. It's not going to be pretty. The other thing is much better news. Charlie and Catherine learned they could keep from killing Renesmee, because of the family connection. Plus, I think Charlie has figured out how he and Catherine can be together, finally, without freaking her out. We'll see. Damn, this keeps getting better and better!

WAiting to see when the Cullens or pack make a scene...you'd think they'd have some sort of clue by now...unless its a Volturi plot to make it look likethe cullen's broke the treaty? but i can't imagine that working...anyway...off to read more.
