So James may turn out to be an ok guy after all. I'm glad that Riley loved the paintings as they were... that was awesome. What struck me the most was the last line of this chapter... It was beautiful.

This is nicely written and an interesting story.
I'm curious about a few things, though. It seems like Bella is referring to her to her leg/stump, which she is washing, as "the limb," That seems to be quite an objectifying and distancing way to refer to part of her body, considering that she seems so well adjusted. Is that typical/intentional?

I was thinking about that initially, when he first looked at the paintings, that the fire added to the experience. I wonder what Edward will do - it took so much to let someone else even look at them.
So what's up with James? I can never trust him as a character and he hasn't done anything previously to make me think he's trustworthy now, especially without Jane available to promote his work. He did seem ernest in his advice and support and Edward has been a great customer to him, but he's in competition with Edward.

YAY! I'm so glad there's a solution for the paintings! And I agree, he shouldn't try to "fix" them. They are perfect just the way they are! And he isn't going to want to ever leave Bella's place, is he??

As always, an excellent chapter to read and experience. Truly enjoyed how you showed Riley and James in this chapter. Sometimes we're supported and encouraged by the most unexpected people who pass through our lives. Glad to see that you have Edward always remembering that while the art is important, the fact that he and Bella came out of this without lasting damage is the most important. Everything else can be replaced - it won't feel right to begin with, but it will with time.
Thank you for the update! This is a "DEAR" story - always love to "drop everything and read" when this story is updated.

What Riley said about the paintings - I really hope Edward considers it. They're his life, with all its lights and shadows, and they should be seen as such.
Bella is just amazing. She's giving Edward everything he needs right now (okay, maybe apart from randomly showing up mothers with healing oils *giggles*), and helps him in a very similar way he helped her when she faced the mountain.
James - he surprised me. Seems like there's a decent guy buried somewhere deep inside him. Or maybe what Jane did was a wake-up call for him. Either way, I hope we'll see more of that nicer side of him...

The feeling of warmth and hope in this chapter made me all tingly (is there such a word?) The love between these two is definitely growing. I like the dependence and acceptance that they are gaining as they adjust to each other. And for Edward to think about marriage - can't wait till he has that conversation with Bella! With your gift of words, this will be awesome.

Did not see Riley's idea about the museum coming -- but it is the perfect avenue for Edward. Not only does he get to keep the original nineteen canvases intact, but will also realize a life-long dream. You are brilliant!!

This is such a beautifully written story! So much passion even with slow burn! Love that Riley would offer to hang them AS IS! They are his life story since he has met Bella and the fire damage just adds to it in that he could have lost his inspiration but they all survived. Love that he is at her apartment painting and that they are so close now! Their need for each other is a beautiful thing! Great job!

I apologize for being total fail at reviewing, but I got so caught up in the story that I just kept clicking "next".
What a truly unique premise. I've never read anything like it and I always learn things from reading your fics. I even tried ice wine a few weeks ago, remembering it from Finding Forever. And you put it in this one, too ;) Really liked it, btw.
I like how they started out slow and stumbling and then found their stride. There is a great deal of trust now between them and I'm so happy that they have each other for the struggles that they've had to endure.
I will admit to thinking that James was the crazy stalker, but now I think it makes sense that it's a jealous woman -- wanting someone you can't have can make you crazy, that's for sure.
Lauren is totally cracking me up in this fic, she is so desperate for love and attention it's sad.
So looking forward to what's next. Love this so far!

Well thank goodness they are both going to be physically ok, Poor Edward, all that work, possibly all lost and having to go back to his apartment to face it. I'm sure he'll get through this with the help of his Bella, his family and friends, I get the feeling it may be a long road. I can't wait to read Edward's POV to find out how he's feeling and what he's thinking. Jane x
