This dance was amazing! I agree with Alice that it's not appropriate for high school but it was so hot I can't even care! (If this is how they are in real life now, hell, Mr. J and I will chaperone.) I digress...you wrote it so well and thought out the playlist perfectly. E&B's dancing was incredible, and GRAB THE PIPE?! Holy shit! My arms were aching for her, lol. But damn if that wasn't original! Oh, and I'm still chortling at the "Best Couple" nomination. Yes, this was an award-worthy chapter, no doubt.
"...the fact that she had so many good qualities and overlooked all of them really pissed me off."
You're channeling that ex-boyfriend of mine and it's scary how close you come to him! (Are you sure you're not a dude, named Robert?)
"...uncertainty written across her expression, I wanted to help her, needed her not to look unsure ever fucking again."
<swoon> Damn, Protective is so sexy, eh?
"He and Alice hadn’t found the physical side to their relationship, not that it would have really bothered me."
This surprised me. Beyond Edward's "hypocritical" excuse, I figured he would definitely be bothered by any guy screwing his little sister, potentially hurting her (emotionally.) Edward must really trust Jasper's motives.
"She smiled, wicked and promising. I felt the tension reach breaking point. One of us was going to make a move soon, and if Alice and Jasper didn’t find somewhere else to be, they’d be our audience."
AGH! I can see them standing there, looking straight off a Pirates movie set - eyes locked, grins on their faces, bodies swaying gently toward the other's.
Somewhere around, "Is he cracking a whip?" it occured to me that your Edward reminds me of a younger version of HunterHunting's Anaconda Edward from Clipped Wings and Inked Armor. No wonder he's fuck hawt.
LOVE what you did with For Your Entertainment! Their reactions shocked the shit out of me, but they felt perfect in the end! One thing though...where the hell did Bella learn to pole dance? <taps foot restlessly> I know Edward is reluctant to move into those 'rougher' waters, but my vote goes in the "Yea" column, okay? It just fits for them!
"What the fuck? I didn’t go around ogling their girlfriends…
anymore. Show some fucking respect."
ROTF!
Re your note: Edward is the embodiment of Chivalry to me. The Nine Noble Virtues are based on Norse myth, history and religion (my son is a huge Viking buff.) But so many of those eras' ideals mesh, there are probably similar ones from Medieval times. Let me know if you come across any reference to them in your new book. I can only credit myself with two noble virtues in any consistancy (Fidelity/Loyalty and self-discipline.) But I have also discovered the truth that ultimately, our strengths are our weaknesses, lol. Everything to me is black or white/all or nothing...there is no "gray" area. I'm either full-blown "on" and disciplined as hell, or completely "off" and couldn't care less. And I'm loyal to a fault and it constantly causes me emotional pain. I see similar parallels in Edward. He strives for control, even to the point of causing himself pain. Once he trusts, he trusts completely and perhaps blindly. He has been self-reliant all his life, and his personal relationships are few and far-between as a consequence. I could go on but this is turning into a book and it's not a lit exam. :-)
Hey, I was eating pastitsio while I read this chapter! (We ate Mediterranean for dinner and I had leftovers.)
In closing, I'm tickled about Edward and Bella's new Entertainment discovery. I see them in a whole new light - and it's black. And phosphorescent. And it strobes a little bit. Shit - WATCH THAT PIPE! Oh damn, baby, did you hit your head? <rubs SoulReaper's noggin>
