I tell you this now, so you don't get down to the end and want to break my kneecaps!
Ah, those kneecaps... No fun dancing without them! Or so was said somewhere, on a tv show? Don't remember which one. They probably were going to put a bullet in them, I guess.
Also, some raised concerns that the story will be fluff heavy from here on out... the next chapters will be, but the drama will return down the road.
Why is Fergie starting to sing "No, no drama, we don't want no drama"? I don't think I've had enough sleep this night. Must be that.
But other than that, yes, I hope we all get there will be more drama to come. I mean, were ST time travel stories complete fluff? I think not! And like I said on the board: Future!Edward still needs to get his butt kicked, I think.
"I just want to be with you," he murmured before devouring me in another hot kiss.
Poor lad, really. What kind of molesting he has to go through before getting her to agree to marrying him... It's almost like he has to sell himself with his body, instead of her appreciating him for his brain, and trusting her love for him. Can we hug him? And molest him after we say ‘I do'? :-D
He didn't hold back, and it was all I could do not to climb on top of him and rip his shirt from his shoulders.
In fact, I was halfway there when rational thought reared its ugly head.
This was wrong.
Yes, it is wrong. You know how Edward feels/felt about his virtue. *cough* I hope she'll keep that in mind. If she wants him, it's Vegas, baby!
"My mother blamed my father for taking her away to a small town. She felt stifled. My father couldn't understand her. They grew apart. They were unhappy. And I was caught in the middle."
It was so funny, wasn't it, how easy Renee was after Bella told her she was getting married to Edward. But Renee was right, they were meant to be, and Bella wouldn't do it for anything less, marrying that early in life. I wish she'd get that insight. I mean, she knows she's Edward's mate. Or perhaps she doesn't, since all she knows is that he left her, could leave her. She was but a distraction...
"You're mighty sure of yourself, Mr. Masen," I teased gently.
Phew. She didn't even choke on the name. And don't you just love it when Edward's eyes darken when she calls him ‘Mister something'? There's a Shyward around, or a Nerdward, call him whatever you want, and his eyes do that, too. You should really give that story a chance: JSFazz - Discovering You, Discovering Me. Awesome read.
"Some people search their whole lives to find the one that's meant for them," he began in a low voice. "I never expected to have her walk into my front yard and call me by name."
And then that Jackass, yes, here he is again, the one from the future, just drops her like a stone. I went to reread chapter 2, she knew he was lying, sure, but he did say he was looking for her for 90 years, and still he denies himself. And then you're here, in the past, and this Edward says such pretty things, and then you're back there, watching him leave you behind.
Edward's face positively beamed as he smiled. He slid the ring on my finger, then threw his head back and laughed for a moment before leaning in to kiss me.
Was that a ‘woman conquered' kind of laugh? Or an ‘I won' kind of laugh? Sweet either way. Boy must be so happy. I'm happy for the boy. And worried where it'll all go wrong-ish?
"I think we should wait to tell them about our engagement."
I choked a little on my tea at the word, but recovered quickly.
*falls next to her chair*
Bella, what do you think that ‘yes' was for? There's a step in between ‘seeing each other' and ‘being married to each other'. :P
"It was my grandmother's," Edward told me. "She gave it to me before she died. She said I'd know I'd found the right one to give it to, when I couldn't imagine it on anyone else's finger."
His grandmother's, huh? I wonder where it went, future wise. Since Edward would have used the one from his mother for Bella, would that mean the one from his grandmother was missing? Hmm, I'll think further on my ‘VampBella's out there' theory. Does she still have it on? Hmm...
Unless she's getting mugged, or something. God, I hope not. Edward's pretty ring... Given with all the right intentions. :-(
"I wanted to make sure he was... deserving of your trust."
"You mean you spied on him," I stated flatly.
Yup, like father, like son.
Carlisle sat down behind his desk, flipping through a file. "A while."
A while. He and Edward are more alike than either one would care to admit.
Hehe. I think I said that in the previous chapter's review for the first time, right?
"How long ‘a while?'"
Carlisle's sheepish shrug gave him away before his answer. "Since I first met him... after I heard you arguing outside the hospital."
I gaped. "Months? You've been spying on him for months?"
I can't believe Carlisle's been spying on him for months... And like Bella said, she's still not convinced he does like like her... Because we all know, even if Carlisle thought he loved Bella, it's nowhere near what he was going to feel for Esme... But months? Wow.
The truth was, I wasn't really worried about me. Charlie was adamant that I get a flu shot every year, and the previous fall, I'd not only gotten one, but two.
I was pretty sure my H1N1 vaccine could kick the 1918 Spanish Influenza's ass.
She of course works under the assumption that her flu shots came with her to 1918... Hmm, we'll see. Perhaps she'll be able to persuade Edward to go somewhere else with her, but they'll both get sick anyway, and Carlisle has to turn them both... But that doesn't make much sense with the ‘why aren't Bella and Edward together from that day on' part. I don't think they can be, in order to make the time loop work (if there is one). But then there's the matter of Carlisle and Edward not knowing anything anymore... Unless it's a hallucination. Grrr. You're very frustrating, you know. But 7 more chapters, yes? ^^
"I know what you're thinking," Edward whispered in my ear.
"I really hope not," I whispered back with a teasing smile.
No mind reading yet, and not with her, Edward... See? Bella is thinking the same things as Jessica and Lauren and all the other chicks at Forks High were thinking about. It seems that only the human Edward gets it, though. Vampward seemed pretty clueless when it came to women, when he encountered one who's mind he couldn't read.
I shook my head and smiled softly. "So you will run away with me?"
He smiled back, leaning forward to kiss me gently. "To the ends of the earth."
‘Like that's going to happen,' part of my brain is whispering to me. We'll see, brain, we'll see. Will she need to call Carlisle's help when it turns out he's infected after all? Painful, angsty... Oh boy.
His free hand gripped my hip, rubbing it gently with his thumb while pressing me closer to his body... his heat. The air thickened around us, mimicking the moisture and feverish want growing between my legs and spreading throughout my body.
"Edward," I moaned as his lips moved to my throat.
"Bella, I want... to be with you," he murmured,..
Ya wouldn't last 3 minutes, man, if you're getting yourself this worked up before doing anything...
Now, where's my fan?
I literally thought my blood would boil and my body would explode all over Maggie's petunias.
Oh, I beg of you, do... Is that some kind of ‘deflowering her flowers' thing?
"Take me to your room," he said in a low voice.
"What?" I asked, dazed and a little stunned.
Assuming he'd want to do more than dry hump... Did Bella ever read that folder that Eleanor, or what was her name, gave her? It would be funny if she were sent to the present pregnant. (Hey, if her flu shots have a chance of having made it to 1918, then why can't a baby travel to the future?)
I grabbed his hand, and I dragged him up the stairs to my room.
*wonders who the cock blocker is going to be*
Maggie? Maybe they made it back by now? I mean, if Bella doesn't hear Edward's parents coming when they're all up front, then she definitely won't hear Maggie coming back home when she's more at the back, or something?
Two weeks... We can survive that. Definitely with that teaser you left for us on Monday. So Alistair is still at the house, huh? Ew. Like I said on the forum, I was thinking that they'd better lock the door, and put something in front of the keyhole, because who knows if he's a peeping Tom or not... EW!
;-)
Have a nice journey!
