I've always had an interest in medicine. There was a point in time when I thought I might go into the field but since found out that I have a terrible fear/phobia of hospitals. The smells never fail to make me anxious and nauseous. Even so, I hold the utmost respect for anyone who goes into medicine. I still love to learn about different techniques and advances, which may be the reason I stayed in the science field. Anyhoo, to get to my point...this story had the perfect balance of fiction mixed in with reality and the real life situations that happen everyday behind the golden curtain of the hospital doors. This felt as if it could have been your very own Nightingale Journals. I loved getting an inside look at what goes on in the lives of doctors and nurses of one of the overlooked specialities in the field.
Certainly the content that forces the "x-rating" of the story doesn't hurt either. ;-)
Thanks for sharing this story.
Author's Response: OMG, thank you for such kind praise! It was very important to me to craft a story that was accurate but still engaging. I worked very hard to keep it entertaining and fun, but I also wanted it to be informative. You've made me very happy to know that in your eyes, at least, I succeeded.
You're also very observant or intuitive--Bella's blog posts were, mostly, direct reflections of my own experiences in the hospital. I wanted to make her words very real.
Even though I work in a hospital, I completely understand your phobia. It's not a place for everyone, and the smells can be downright horrid. I have to admit, though, that one of the benefits of working in peds is that the smells are infinitely better than on adult units. Just the thought makes me want to hurl. Ew.
I'm happy to share this story--thank you for reading and giving me your time.

This was a wonderfully written story! Full of important work, intense romance, and sexy times. I've fallen in love with Dr. GEM Cullen and Nurse Nightingale and their parents throughout this journey, and am very sad to see it end. You are blessed with razor sharp wit and brilliant storytelling skills. Thank you for sharing your work with us! It couldn't have been easy, but it is very appreciated!
Yours in the love of medicine,
Chyla
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your thoughtful compliments. I'm so glad you enjoyed all the aspects of this story. :)

Awww, I love how Edward is so protective of Libby, it's so sweet and just how a Dad should be. His thoughts about when did she grow up and that he's been there the whole time and he's sure that she was only two or three, well that just made my heart clench, you made me laugh and cry. The love he feels for his daughter knows no bounds, beautiful. I thought his intimidation tactics were perfect, lol, if a boy can't take a little intimidation from his girls Dad then he doesn't deserve the girl.
Edward and Bella have come through so much together and their love for each other is stronger than ever and through the nightly communication of the banging headboard Libby knows just how her parents feel about each other. Lol, as embarrassed as Libby may feel about hearing that, I bet she has no doubt in her mind that her parents aren't thinking of divorcing anytime soon. I'm with Edward, I think it sets a good example of what a long term loving and stable relationship is about.
I've loved every minute of this story, from start to finish. I'll keep my eye out for more. Than you for sharing this with us.

I just wanted to let you know that this chapter was phenomenal and a fantastic reminder of why it is so important to always wear your PPE with a sick kid. I recently just started my PICU rotation of nursing school and was called to assist with an LP. the Attendind told me I didn't need a mask or gloves because I was "just holding" for the LP but i'm glad I wore them. Needless to say the kid ended up with Menengitis and Pnuemonia. Also during the procedure he sprayed mucous all over my thankfully gloved hands. Because of this story I made the choice to protect myself and I am very glad I did. Thank you :)

I'm totally addicted to Chap Stick my husband keeps saying I need to find a support group or something lol to funny. I'm intrigued by the diva cups, I have seen them in stores but never knew what they were. I'm learning so much just by reading this fic its awesome. I should try and find a way to count it towards my continuing education credits lmbo

ok the little edward clothing story cracked me up because my brother was the same way growing up. you always knew how to find him when he got home from school, just follow the trail of clothing... to funny.
Author's Response: That's totally the story of my boy. He once said, "Being naked is my specialty." How could I not include that in my story?

I should clarify; my last review on this chapter wasn’t very specific heh. What I meant to say was I have no idea how I would (as a paramedic) deal with all the drunk nurses yelling at me. Family members are difficult enough, but having a bunch of people that actually know what they are talking about all giving different medical opinions would be a bit overwhelming for me especially as a new paramedic. I'm glad Bella was able to diffuse the situation like she did, the police officer was good to :) it was very realistic and I loved the chapter :)
Author's Response: Suffice it to say, you probably never want a bunch of drunk nurses breathing down your neck. We're bad enough when we're sober. js. ;)

aww I love this chapter. I now have the sudden urge to try hob nobs lol
Author's Response: Sweets, HOB NOBS ARE THE BOMB! Seriously yummy stuff. They're nearly banned from our house because you can't not eat the whole container. NOMS.

thank god for Bella, I feel bad for the EMT's I have no idea how I would handle a situation like that.... awesome chapter :)
Author's Response: Yeah, for those of us who are ICU trained, those resuscitation skills are right there when we need them. Bella's a smart girl. :)

wow I just realized I have read about 4 chapters without reviewing, bad. I love this so far, so much I apparently cant stop reading long enough to write a review. ok next chapter :)
Author's Response: *giggles* Hey, if you're entertained enough that you can't wait to get to the next chapter, then by all means, keep on reading. That's good enough for me, I promise. :) Thank you so much for reading and giving me your time!

love this story so far. I'm a paramedic, and love reading fiction that’s related to medicine, this story is right up my alley and I am looking forward to reading the rest :)
Author's Response: Oh, I'm so glad you're enjoying it! One of the main reasons I wrote it was to get a fic out there that uses medical terms and situations correctly. I tried hard to balance the technical with the fun to make the story engaging--I hope it continues to interest you. Thank you for reading!

I just finished the story & have decided to forgo the "naughty nurse" portion of the epilogue.
I have enjoyed the story very much & have a great appreciation for the work these nurses do. My 2nd daughter was born at 26 1/2 weeks & spent those 13 1/2 weeks in the NICU. Her nurses were absolutely wonderful & were thrilled to see how well she's doing now at 2 1/2 years old when we stopped in to visit after a follow-up w/ the neonatologist.
I know I could never work in the medical field (not having the stomach for it or being able to keep from getting too attached to the patients) but I am grateful for those who do so & do it selflessly!
Author's Response: I love happy stories like yours; I'm so glad you had good nurses behind you as you went through the challenge of having a preemie. People forget that it's so much more difficult for new moms, because they have all those pregnancy hormones raging and recovering from the birth itself. :(
I do think you'd appreciate the very last chapter, "What Goes Around Comes Around," because it's a future take and Edward gets all Neanderthal over LIbby going on a date. It's fun.
Thank you so much for reading and your kind comments.

Loved it! Edward is so cute being all protective father. :)
Author's Response: I'm so glad. You just *know* he's going to be all neanderthal based on HIS OWN past actions as a horny adolescent. *snort*

I love this story and would be so ok if you did a few more outtakes. It is just a fun read.
Author's Response: Aw, TYVM, that's so kind. I don't have anything more planned, but as I said, you never know. We'll wait and see. :)

Sooo, regardless of how I feel about the prologue, I've truly enjoyed 99% of this story. I can't wait to go onto the next chapter!
Author's Response: I *told* you it would get better. Sorry the prologue didn't do it for you, but I'm glad you're enjoying the rest. I think it will only get better from here. Thank you so much for letting me know that this little story grew on you, and for giving it a chance. I appreciate that.

I've read this story since you started and I loved it from the start. The mix of drama and fun is in perfect balance to keep readers interested.
I just felt the need to tell you the fact that this was one of my favorite stories...I could easily (and most likely will) this story again. I've already passed it on to friends who read this site so the word's getting out there for you.
I reviewed a long time ago with a post similar to this when you mentioned the need for people to join the blood/tissue donation...I told you then that I had recently donated bone marrow. Well, since you're a nurse who's interested, I'm happy to tell you it's been 20 months since I donated and everything is great! I'm in constant contact with my recipient and it's like we're a huge family. I, like you, would definitely encourage anyone to join. I just thought you might like to hear a little bit more of my story.
I'll definitely be on the lookout for any other writing you might be doing. Kudos on your work.
Author's Response: I'm so touched by your words, I don't know where to begin! Thank you for loving my little story so much, and being a champion for it all this time. I'm so glad to know that the mix of drama and fun was good enough to keep readers engaged.
More than my story though, I'm just thrilled to bits that your bone marrow was able to be used, and that even more, it's still holding strong after 20 months. I've taken care of so many bone marrow transplant patients, and it's a horrible process. If you make it out the other end, it's so worth it, but a tough road. You literally gave that person another lease on life, and I think that makes you the greatest kind of hero of all. Thank you SO much for sharing that with me.
I'm actually working on another medical romance, but this one is going to be original fiction, just to see if I can do it. Thanks again so much for your support.

I've got to say the whole Protectiveward at the beginning......hystericalllllll!!!!!!!! Let me tell you, your story never ceases to impress me, and the beginning of this story had me laughing with tears in my eyes....truly!!! I even started reading it to my husband, and he didn't seem to think Edward was wrong at all!!! He was laughing with me, but let's just say...he seemed to be thinking of his own ideas. As a matter of fact, if you remember the movie "Uncle Buck" and the scene where Uncle Buck is holding an axe and saying he likes to keep it so sharp that he could circumcise a nat....wellllll....my husband did that skit for one of my daughter's boyfriends, but the only problem was....this boy didn't know movie...must have thought my husband lost his mind....lol!! Told my daughter to show him a You Tube video to explain we don't usually hold axes in the house..lol!! Anyway, loved how your Edward and Bella still tease one another and now Libby is the same...hehe. It is great to hear that Edward and Bella still love each other and have a super healthy sex life. Their transition into adulthood as parents, makes me smile. The little telltale signs...reading glasses..lol. Just made everything so visual!!! Love your story and will be looking for anything written by you. Definitely a bigggg fan!!! Xoxox
Author's Response: You made me all sniffly, just now. I was giggling about your husband, the Uncle Buck story is PRICELESS. And Edward, god, he is just so much fun to write. I had a blast imagining him as the overprotective daddy of his baby girl.
And yes, these two have remained very closely connected, sexually and otherwise. I just couldn't see them in any other way. I love that you appreciate the little visuals like the reading glasses. You totally know Edward would look down his nose like that.
I'm not sure if I'm going to post more stuff on Twilighted or not, but I do have a FFn.net site when ALL my stories reside. I'm working on some original fiction at the mo.
Thanks so much for reading, and for your support of my writing. It is much appreciated.
