The old boarding house in Eyphah holds some dark secrets that aren't quiet ready to be put to rest. When newcomers arrive to reopen the boarding house, some aren't exactly happy about the idea. The hybrid continued to advance on her, forcing her higher up the mountain. He was taunting her. She knew he could kill her whenever he pleased, but he just smiled, his perfect white teeth gleaming against his smooth, tanned skin.
She felt movement beneath her. It was subtle at first; then there was another. Her body shook as the earth moved.
Then she heard it.
It was a loud roar, like the sound of a 747 jumbo jet. The mountain trembled with such force she could barely keep herself upright. She turned and her jaw dropped as a huge dark cloud plumed from the mountain. She arched her neck, taking in the massive height of the ominous cloud. She stood transfixed, feeling both fear and awe as she watched light and smoke dancing in the sky.
Hot air slammed against her face, causing her to inhale sharply, the blinding heat scorching her lungs. She willed herself to move, to run far away from the danger that loomed in front of her. Before she could, there was a loud whistle and she saw it coming –fiery rock hurtling toward her. She ducked just in time.
Behind her, the hybrid shrieked, and she spun around. She crouched, ready to defend herself when she saw him combust, on fire, and his body quickly turning to ash.
